Wanted to buy Kaspersky...

I want to get the Kaspersky Personal Security Suite, but I had some questions about it first I need answered & was hoping someone here had done this already.

What I am concerned about is downloading the software & having something go wrong. Can you backup the install file & program so that if you need to reinstall it months down the road you can just pop the disk in & tell it to go? Honestly, my biggest hang up on this is that I prefer to have the hard copy from the company in case something goes wrong. Could someone fill me in on how to work this please?

I"m not sure about this particular program but every program that I have bought through a download lets you save the install file for a re-install later on.

I just burn them to a CD/DVD as a backup.

I bought acronis through a download and keep the original install plus all the current build's on a DVD-RW, and have re-installed it a couple times.

It won't be a problem.

I have the download ver and it works the same as cd ver. The main thing is you need to look after your licence key, its only a small file so you can save it anywhere

Usually with downloaded software, you can log-in and redownload it if you lose the install file. As Broadkipa said, your key is the most important part of the purchase. You're not purchasing the actual executable, you're purchasing a license to use it.

Hey a note about the keys. Don't clear your CMOS, it kills the key, no matter what you do. I had to clear my CMOS and I reset the date without ever booting and it still killed my key.

Kas support sent me a new key no problem though. I just had to give them my order number from the online purchase.

Just an FYI, I'm a tweeker and overclocker and its kind of annoying, as I clear my CMOS after trying a new BIOS flash or screwing something up. I'm worried that they'll begin to think I'm up to something...
