Wants to get a MSI RS480M2-IL, but hesitant due to BeOS support

I've made up my mind that this board is almost exactly what I want. The only open question that remains is BeOS support (which is very important for me). I'd be very happy if someone who has this board could test if BeOS boots ok with it.

BeOS 5 Personal Edition is probably the smallest download (less than 50 MB), it is easy to use for testing, though I doubt it would boot without disabling SSE in the BIOS or installing a patch. BeOS "Max Edition" is a third party distro based on the Personal Edition. Unlike PE, it can be booted from a CD (rather than from Windows or Linux) and can be installed on its own BFS partition. I'd be happy to send you an ISO of my BeOS 5 Pro Edition (I don't think Be Inc. RIP would mind...), but unfortunately 600 MB is too big for the basic hosting that I use.

If you could test this on your PC it would be great. I don't care about full driver support, a successful boot is enough.

Thanks a lot,

Oren

This one's probably won't work with stock BeOS. It has issues with any rig with 1GB of RAM (or more). There's the RAM Limiting Bootloader, but unless you're also as curious about this as me, it's probably too much hassle to test...

And if I didn't mention it, the easiet way to test it is to download BeOS 5 Personal Edition installer for Windows. Various download links can be found here: http://www.bebits.com/app/2680 or http://snipurl.com/BeOS_PE_Mirrors

The installation is very simple. You just run the Installer in Windows, and it creates an image file that is used to load BeOS. This can be done by clicking a shortcut in Windows, which shuts down the system and reboots into BeOS. There are no changes to partitions, nor to the MBR/boot sectors, so it's a totally fail safe way to try BeOS.

Thanks again,

Oren

Being honest I did not deal with BeOS. I installed XP pro on MSI RS480M2. I am using integrated video and sounds, and you know what...it's awsome for integrated and more. If ONLY video output would be DVI instead of VGA..then I wouldn't even think of upgrading it for a while.
