Best part about that scene is it wasn't scripted. Totally improvised. So many great movie moments that were never planned and this is definitely one of them.

I think this entire thread is a counterproductive way of behaving. It's illustrative of one of the reasons why I don't want to participate more in discussions here. Mob rule and the dehumanization of your ideological opponent is not the mark of the enlightened.

As long as it's pure hypocrisy, not the tainted kind.
They're always the victim.Guys, we need to stop. The republicans are feeling dehumanized cuz we pointed out their blatant hypocrisy. We can't make them feel bad. They would never dehumanize anyone. Like non-whites, gays, women, non christians etc. Remember they are SUPER SUPER good people when they are getting attacked and you will hurt their feelings talking bad about how they vote in a way that fks everyone and the world including them. Its really not fair to them.

I don't have any problem with people being called out on lies. What you all have going on here is way over and beyond that. All the justifications for such behavior are a nice touch. I'd say that many of you are no better than schoolyard bullies; as adults I would expect you all to know better. If you ever wonder why the quality and number of your ideological opponents here on the boards seem low, don't make the mistake of believing it's because your beliefs are ascendant; you've merely chased them off with your virtual pitchforks.Don't lie if you don't want to be called out for it. That should apply anywhere in life.
With the posting history of some people the entire forum is better off if they ARE chased off. Context needs to be considered on something like this. By page two I, as well, was thinking OK, point made let's move on. But for some I have no sympathy given the verbal diarrhea they expel on this forum daily.I don't have any problem with people being called out on lies. I did like your post, just didn't have anything to add, except that things just seem to be getting worse from what I can tell.I responded respectfully and you ignored my contribution to the conversation. Food for thought.
Point taken, but it was the first of many google results so rather than sort through them, I just linked it here. Direct from the original Reuter's source:The Russian government propaganda outlet is not a valid source of information at all.

The numbers are the exact same as what I originally linked, in this case the press didn't see the need to alter the data.
I have had several give and take conversations oh this forum and I absolutely devolve in to name calling and incredulity at times. Mostly, I just shake my head and don't engage. Fortunately for me I can have well informed intelligent conversation with my husband on these topics but I have met few "conservatives" on this forum willing to have a genuine debate. I have seen many "progressives" capable of doing so.I did like your post, just didn't have anything to add, except that things just seem to be getting worse from what I can tell.

My experience goes back a couple decades, but not on this forum. It's interesting that you think conservatives tend to stay inside their own "bubble," from what I can observe, that is not at all unique to conservatives. Do you not have any awareness that this forum is a kind of bubble itself? Lots of affirmation here for certain points of view, almost all left-leaning as far as I can tell. We are all becoming more isolated and surrounded by things we "like," part of that is the way market-driven social media works, but the rest we seem happy to volunteer for.Meh, I doubt that. I've been posting actively on P&N since late 2008. At that time, there were roughly equal numbers on the left and the right. The pitchforks as you call them were out in force then as now. On both sides.
I'm not really sure why the leftward shift on P&N since then, but it isn't changing behavior of liberal posters. A better guess is that conservatives these days are less apt to expose themselves to anything outside their own bubble, and this place is outside said bubble. It's a good bet than many of the conservatives who left are off posting on right wing social media outlets these days, were there are no mean liberals to tell them they're wrong.

The enlightened on the AT P&N board?I think this entire thread is a counterproductive way of behaving. It's illustrative of one of the reasons why I don't want to participate more in discussions here. Mob rule and the dehumanization of your ideological opponent is not the mark of the enlightened.
It's pretty obvious that a lot of you guys think of yourselves as smarter than the average bear: More informed, more rational, more forward-thinking. Is that not what enlightened means to you?The enlightened on the AT P&N board?
Man, you are looking in all the wrong places.
