This thread is a perfect example of the end result of 30 years of the right-wing cult media programming their listeners to reject basic logic, reason, and reject enlightenment and the intellectual. This thread is a perfect example of how similar the right-wing in America is to the extremist movements in the middle east. Ideology over facts. Belief over knowledge.

Does such a forum exist? I would be surprised if such a thing existed but I am intrigued.

There's a reason that for years people in public /social settings stay clear of political talk. People are passionate. Add to that people's debate/fight style... Things gon' get crazy up in here and most places.

I'd say that many of you are no better than schoolyard bullies; as adults I would expect you all to know better. With the posting history of some people the entire forum is better off if they ARE chased off. Context needs to be considered on something like this. By page two I, as well, was thinking OK, point made let's move on. But for some I have no sympathy given the verbal diarrhea they expel on this forum daily.

Sometimes a courtesy flush is needed.

I have had several give and take conversations oh this forum and I absolutely devolve in to name calling and incredulity at times. Mostly, I just shake my head and don't engage. Fortunately for me I can have well informed intelligent conversation with my husband on these topics but I have met few "conservatives" on this forum willing to have a genuine debate. I have seen many "progressives" capable of doing so.

Meh, I doubt that. I've been posting actively on P&N since late 2008. At that time, there were roughly equal numbers on the left and the right. The pitchforks as you call them were out in force then as now. On both sides.

I'm not really sure why the leftward shift on P&N since then, but it isn't changing behavior of liberal posters. A better guess is that conservatives these days are less apt to expose themselves to anything outside their own bubble, and this place is outside said bubble. It's a good bet than many of the conservatives who left are off posting on right wing social media outlets these days, were there are no mean liberals to tell them they're wrong.

Yes, liberals do the same thing. They just don't do it to the same extent. And this forum has not always been so left leaning. Like I said, it was about even left/right when I started posting here. Many of the libs here were posting back then when there were a lot more conservatives here. Some conservatives have stayed for the duration, but most seem to have left. Both sides were nasty toward each other in roughly equal measure, but one side stayed and the other left.
