Let the GOP civil war commence!

Last night on CNN, the GOP panelist were fighting like cats and dogs and the spin was spectacular. I thought they were going to punch or choke each other. Not sure that I have seen anything like it. Pretty intense.

Well this morning Trump tweeted that he was right all along because he endorsed Strange knowing that Moore could never win.

So even when he is doubly wrong, he is more right than anyone!

What a fucking loser.

Anyone see the videos of the pedo trying to ride his horse like he was a cowboy? Lol. Even the horse felt molested.

What a fraud.

Maybe people are finally realizing that Trump is a modern plague, a kind of political herpes. Bannon storming away from Moore's campaign HQ was priceless.

I can honestly say going into yesterday morning I was fully expecting Moore to win by around 3%. I had that little faith in people of Alabama to make a rational decision. I was wrong, and I owe many of them an apology. Last night we saw young voters, educated voters, and minorities swing hard toward Jones. Doug Jones seems to be a legitimately decent human being and I hope he is able to show his constituents that decency and compassion can actually govern well.

This is now the second election in a matter of weeks where a Trumped backed candidate went down. The GOP must be shitting a collective pile of bricks. Their populist leader can't get his candidates to win. Their establishment candidates aren't Trump enough to rile that base. I see a wave of new announcements of retirements coming again.

Trump is 0-3. Gillespie, Strange, and now Moore. Quite the top notch political strategery from the WH.

This is my sincere hope as well. Perhaps this is a start of some more moderation in politics.

Some candidates just have too much baggage and shouldn't be in office. I see polls were all over the place before this election. Some got it right, but again many polls were completely wrong.

It was known ahead of time that the polls weren't going to be reliable in Alabama because it is so infrequently polled in situations like this it was nearly impossible to model turnout. Everyone was very up front about how these polls were basically educated guesses. Note that this is in marked contrast to national polls, which are highly accurate.

Regardless, it's pretty amusing how apparently even Alabamans are afraid of Trump being a successful president as the guy he went all-in for lost in what should be the safest seat in the country. Looks like Alabamans don't like what they see.

Moore was the wrong candidate for Trump to endorse. Trump's hard headedness bit him here. Obama endorsed Hillary, that doesn't mean Obama wasn't a successful president...

Yes. Was it his homage to Jesus on a donkey triumphantly entering Jerusalem? I dunno.

Either way it's was pretty grand for someone who's religion preaches humility.

Moore should never have even been allowed to have the label R by his name in the primary. They could have filtered him out way earlier. However what you're seeing is polarization leading to more and more extreme candidates particularly in states that have unanimous control of the legislature by one party. The only way to make a name for yourself as a republican in Alabama is to be even more crazy and extreme a republican as the guy you're going after.

Hillary Clinton lost a race in which the American electorate is generally closely divided. Moore lost a race in which the average Republican would be favored to win by about thirty points. Alabama is so safe that no Democrat has won a senate election there in almost three decades. Trump's preferred candidates aren't losing swing state races, they are losing the easiest race you could possibly have.

While a Democrat winning in Alabama is still surprising, these sort of big swings aren't considering how incredibly unpopular Trump is nationally. His endorsements probably provide negative value at this point.

Right, all the same as what I said, Moore was not a good candidate, what you said illustrates that even more. They voted blue 25 years ago in Alabama, this isn't all that historic so much as it is simply something that happens from time to time, and with a candidate like this it shouldn't be so shocking.

If you actually believe this isn't a big deal and a sign of larger issues you are delusional.

By all means though, keep convincing yourself (and other conservatives) that this is nothing to worry about! Let's see how that works for you.

Hell, Jeff Sessions ran unopposed in the 2014 Senate election....that's how far the Democrats had dropped in that state.

I don't want to go in endless circles with you on this. We'll just have to wait and see how things turn out, but we are of different opinions of how much this means in regards to Trump. Had Moore lost and not had accusations of being a pedophile, I would have found this Democratic victory significantly more surprising.

AL loves Jeff Sessions, he won the senate by at least ~20 points in past elections he did have a Dem opponent. Roy Moore was no Jeff Sessions.
