Looks like this had to degenerate into more violence again. I'm a bit worried because my dad is working security over there right now.... He was actually injured fighting protesters in Québec some years ago when the RCMP had to bail out the SQ when they had to retreat because their female riot police officers were collapsing from exhaustion when they were defending their sector of the wall that had been breached...

At least this time he is driving the head car of a motorcade for one of the biggest world leaders present. Makes you wonder why they can't keep these degenerates away from these things. I'm willing to bet it's the same guys causing trouble every time.

Scary stuff. The anarchists burnt two cruisers, and busted many windows.
Vancouverbros, did any of this happen during the Olympics?

What exactly are these people protesting? Are they protesting the most powerful nations getting together or something?

What amazes me is the level of support these thugs get from posters on the CBC web site, an ultra left wing news organization funded by Canadian tax payers.

Check the most agreed post in the link posted by the OP and judge for yourself.

Why they don't just meet on a cruise ship or something baffles me.

Security reasons? 20 World Leaders on 1 boat?

I understand protesting. I don't understand the people that go with the intention of creating violence. I also don't understand spending $1 Billion on one or 2 meetings (G8 + G20). Way to go "conservatives".

I've never quite figured out what the people doing this thought they were actually accomplishing. If they had any hope of convincing the majority to listen to them they just threw it away, now everyone thinks they are violent nutjobs.

I can't believe people are still celebrating the Lakers back-to-back!

Rock on, Toronto!

The police chief is right. People ask him why the hell are the police so intimidating?

10 -15 violent people using the cover of thousands of peaceful demonstrators. It's a hard job.

I wonder how much of that money goes to try and control the crazy people that crawl out of the wood work every time the meetings occur.

They are stupid. Holding an event like this in the heart of Canada's largest city. Stupid choice.

That's what I was getting at. These kind of event should be held in remote places. Away from populated areas. A private cruise ship was the first thing that popped into my head, the Arctic would work, island resorts, that kinda stuff. Places far away from unemployed college students with too much time on their hands.

In all the other summits that turned violent, the violence was started by Agents Provocateurs to allow security forces to forcefully shut down the protests. I wonder if that is the case again... :hmm:

The G8 was held in a small Ontario town. That would've worked.

This is all the more reason why the G8/G20 conferences SHOULD NOT be held in urban areas. They should be held at secure facilities (military bases) where civilians cannot get hurt.

To call them anarchists is wrong. These idiots are little more than fascist thugs. Not much difference between a brown shirt and a black scarf. It baffles me how the legitimate protesters can support them.

Cue conspiracy theorists.

World leaders meet at secret location, public excluded.

It's not like they need to keep the goings on of the meetings secret, televise them for all I care. It just seems to make sense to keep them away from major population centers and people looking for an excuse to light cop cars on fire and break windows.
