I'm getting the Hoover Windtunnel Bagless upright to vacuum my place (which I haven't ever dusted in the year I've lived here). Bagless because I want less dust getting blow back into my apartment. Getting it at Costco, so I'm hoping to also pick up an air purifier while I'm there.

Are any of these any good? Price range, hopefully 100-160 ish, but if something is really worth it i'd consider paying a little more.

Don't waste your money - it won't make any difference. Bagless is generally worse than bagged as far as dust as well.

So what's the HEPA filter in the vacuum good for then? My roomate used to have a cheap upright, and whenever he turned it on you could see a huge cloud of dust come out of the bag.

The bagless is actually cheaper than the bagged Windtunnel they have at costco.

Do you have to take the entire vacuum cleaner outside to clean the dust collector, or can you remove the canister and take that outside to empty it out?

Get yourself a HEPA based filter, not an Ionic filter. I've got a Holmes HAP650, three HEPA/carbon overlays inside it. It does go through filters really quickly though, my apartment here is very dusty.

What square foot will you need your filter to handle?

My apartment is 700 sq. feet.

I read about the Ionic Breeze ones being crap. Any filters on that costco page any good, or are they all bout the same?
