Warcraft 3 and 0xC0000005 fatal error

when i start warcraft 3, it plays the intro and dump me back at desktop
any ideas about this problem?

my system:

P4 1.7ghz
Intel Desktop board D845GBV
256mb DDR PC2100
geforce 4 440 mx 64 mb
maxtor 40 Gig 7200rpm
updated bios

Win98SE
latest motherboard drivers
directx8.1
nvidia drivers Version: 30.82
Warcraft 1.02

I see the problem - Win98! Sorry, couldn't help myself You really need to upgrade the OS.

i took that same hardisk and installed it on a p3 system with 128mb sdram and geforce2 mx 400 and i can play warcraft 3..

I don't know the reason, but I was just saying that you need to get a real OS. Screw Win98, get 2000 or XP.

I also have this problem and have been doing research on it. it's definitely not specifically a win98 problem. check this site out for much more detail:

ok, been there too..

the only common thing I see with our system is DDR..


althou i have a P4S333 working just fine here in my office..
