Warcraft III community?

I'm thinking of buying another copy of WC3 Battle Chest since I lost mine.

My question is do people still play solo and random team, or will I have to wait 10 minutes before it finds matches? I'm not interested in playing DOTA.

I haven't tried the matchmaking in years on War3, hate the regular game. It just reminds me how much better Starcraft is.

But DotA only accounts for about 1/3, at most, of the pub games played on b.net.

It depends.

The short answer is yes, there is very much one still there. And I don't even play TFT, because I despise it, so I'm talking RoC here.


The long answer is it depends on *when* you want to play. You only have to wait a minute or two during peak times (weekdays after work, weekends) to get shuffled into a 4v4/3v3 etc. During slow times (weekdays during work hours) you could be waiting quite a while.

In other words, unless you work the graveyard shift, you'll be fine.

Plenty of games whenever you search. Its still possible to find 4v4 games at all hours.

Dunno why people think SC was better. It was definitely easier. Love both games.

As for community... I dont know. I used to have a clan of 60-70 players but we disbanded after we kept losing numbers to WoW. Just search up a clan and try to get into it.

Solo game wait times probably average 1 or 2 minutes, the other i don't play.

WC3 is still going super strong
just like SC 1 incredibly enough.

i'll expect a lot of Blizzard hard core fans to switch to SC2 when it releases, myself included.

but right now, yeah still playing WC3 in a daily basis, hell i can't sleep with a dosage of BShips or BTanks, or whatever else i might feel like playing.

Until starcraft 2 comes out wc3 will have tons of people playing it. On USWEST i only wait a minute or 2 for 1v1 or 3v3 rt. Which is all i play. Free for all games takes for forever though, and half the time its 2 people who know each other teaming up.

They exist. Its hard to find games at higher level.

I have no trouble finding games, i was ranked up to 250 in 2v2.

the game is still frustratingly unbalanced though.
