Somehow I doubt anything will come of this. If they get the trial to actually go through or they do something to Franks then I bet Belgium will be next on Bush's list if it isn't already.

I'll bet Franks is shaking in his boots. Let's see, how many troops does he command, half a million maybe? Do ya think those troops could take care of Belgium?

A test case is often persued not to prove malice but, rather, to see what the law as written is interpreted to mean.
You might as well start at the top so that in the future the minor players will not find credible challenge.

A judicial opinion on the matter would probably exhonorate the evil general but, in the opinion the grounds will serve well to prosecute the exceptions left unchallenged.

The people in the East of Belgium... Liege, Bastone etc.. are pro American to the extent their neighbors to the east and south are anti.. The French speaking Belg is that way... to my experience any how..

"I think either the US State Department has nothing to hide, in which case it's very important for them to have an independent inquiry - and why can't it be a Belgian magistrate - or they have something to hide and that's why they are threatening Belgium,"

That about sums it up.

I think the Belgium lawyer is over the top and should be disbarred. We can throw around baseless accusations as well.

I suggest you re-read the statement. What are you arguing about?

"I think either the US State Department has nothing to hide, in which case it's very important for them to have an independent inquiry"

And the problem with this is...?
And the problem with it being a Belgian magistrate is...?

The last statement I'm not surprised with at all.. the U.S. imposes trade embargos and other restrictions on almost any country it disagrees with. (even Canada)

Why should the US go to Belgium courts? We neither appointed nor elected these judges. If there was wrong doing I have faith in our military courts.

What court was it that declared Bill Clinton a war criminal for his actions in Bosnia?

A UN approved, US led effort, of course, we are the only ones to ever get permission, hell, we are the only ones who ever even ask first.
