Kinda a bummer - used to be 10 keys per product, now it's only 2 in the Standard subscription and 5 in the Pro. I picked Standard by virtue of not needing the Enterprise editions, but in a few places I need more than 2 keys per product. Sigh.

Yeah, on my current subscription is shows 10 of 5 keys retrieved. Confused me at first, until I read the new policy. Glad I harvested all the keys to everything I thought I'd need at the beginning.

That being the case, I won't renew again. I'll wait until there's another deal and create a new account. At least that way I get five new keys for everything instead of just having the keys I already had and only getting 5 keys when they add new products.

Dang, well looks like I wont be renewing my standard soon..unless there is a good deal on the pro. 2 keys just don't make it anymore.

The enterprise keys allow for 500 activations though, don't they? Why even bother with the other OS versions, except for testing?

It wasn't this forum that caused the issue, it was because of it being posted on fatwallet and slickdeals, and then people using those accounts to scam people by reselling the keys on ebay.

exactly. it baffles me on what microsoft does with technet. i paid the $300 when i got my last one, and since then, they took away half of my keys and recently locked me out of my account because someone who i dont even know tried to hack into my live account (and i cant get a password reset. microsoft security department says they cant id me, even though i told them i have a technet account!!)

i dont know why then even sent the renew notice in the mail. what a waste of forty cents. why would anyone want to renew when you can resubscribe on a deal for a cheaper price and get a fresh set of keys? and win8 is gonna have to be a MASSIVE improvement for me to want another technet sub.

and by the way. no matter what. to anyone that gets a technet account- the FIRST thing you do is pull ALL of the keys you might ever need and save them to your dropbox folder. ive had 3 subs in my life now and none of them i had access to throughout the course of the stated subscription period. this last time where i actually paid full price without any deal or discount was the last straw. im not saying i wont ever sub to technet again, but i wouldnt ever think to pay anywhere near the asking price.

it might be a better idea to wait till last day ( 6-30-11 ) to sub a new acct .
you would have a better chance of getting 5 new keys for * WINDOWS 8 * !
lots of us NEED 5 keys for the laptops we keep in the trunk , RV , den , home office

Can you do more than one activation per key generated from Technet Standard?

For retail products like Office 2010 you used to be able to get 2 activations per key. One on a desktop and one on a notebook.

Odd, my technet subscription that came with action pack still has 10 of each key available, even for the new things like WHS 2011.

It does suck that they changed the model and those people on ebay should be sued for abusing the program.

However, the subscription is a very valuable tool for me to be able to test so many of their products. 5 keys is still enough to test with. I just reuse the keys.
