That is a great price. New they're $35+ and used on FS/FT they don't go below $20 much; a great deal indeed

In regards to the 6800 Ultra, the NV5 Silencer won't improve your temps TOO much as the Ultra reference cooler is quite effective. What it will do is make it a lot quieter, hence the Silencer part. Whether its worth voiding your warranty is up to you

At one of my local computer shops (compucare) that's retail costs. That's basically the only thing that store has that matches online prices. Just my input.

Have this running on my BFG..great little setup. Dropped heat temps down a few degrees or so.

Hi dheffer,

Which Zalman VF700 will you buy, the AlCu or the Cu? The temps you list for the Arctic Cooling Nvidia VGA Silencer 5 performance are good!!! Was your 6800GT OC'd 425/1150 at those temps and what kind of temps to you look to get the the Zalman VF700 cooler at 425/1150???
Thanks in advance!!

I bought the CU... with the vf700cu, my temps are ~5C hotter, but thats running the fan at 4V as opposed to 12V
Both at 12v, the 700 definitely cools better, and is quieter, no questions asked

Hi dheffer,

Did you mean 5V and why aren't your running at 12V? Is your 6800GT 256MB a vanilla board like the eVGA or PNY and if so how well did the Arctic NV 5 fit on the memory? When putting on the Zalman VF700-CU fan were you able to keep the 6800GT's original memory sinks of did they have to be removed? Thanks in advance!

No, I meant 4V, I have a fan controller than goes down below 5V, and I'm running it there because my computer is near silent. I have a leadtek 6800gt, and as far as it being a "vanilla" board, I'm pretty sure that all are the same, under neath the coolers. Most people refer to vanilla's as the non-gt/ultra 6800s. The NV5 fit the ram perfectly, I just had to put a little artic silver, and it was good to go. As far as the original memory sinks, I've never seen a 6800gt that has memory sinks by themselves - all are integrated with the stock cooler, so I didn't have to remove anything. The Zalman came with heatsinks - 8 of them, and they all fit perfectly, and are cool to the touch even under load. Hope all of this helps.
