Hot...the sunday circular I got shows a sticker on the box for a free halflife2 game...and the rebate is valid from 11/16 to 11/22, but the rebate form says its for a 9600np?

just got this at the emeryville, ca compusa and was going to post it.

but the rebate form says its for a 9600np?

on the checkstand printed rebate form it lists the acceptable upc codes and the 9600 pro is listed there.

Did your box have the HL2 coupon sticker?? Now this deal is hot if the rebate printed out for the pro sku and comes with the coupon for HL2! But I guess good luck getting a compusa rebate...

i just assumed that they all did but there is no hl2 sticker or coupon in this box. big ymmv on the hl2 coupon. one may try holding on to it and exchanging it later for a box that has the coupon, though. i actually needed the card to replace a ti4200 that went bad yesterday so i would be getting it anyway. it was more a happy coincidence that this deal was in the morning paper.

Ok, thanks for the heads up. I guess its a YMMV on the HL2 coupon. Maybe if the store doesn't have a correction up for the ad (the sticker is clearly visible on the ad), I can get them to give me a raincheck on the HL2 coupon/game, or discount the card to the value of the HL2! $100 9600pro, sweet!

In regard to the missing coupon for HL2; my Compusa purchase of the 9600 Pro didn't have it either. The only thing I see so far is to register the product through ATI. Maybe through the customer care I will be able to request & receive a product serial key to download HL2 through Steam (I hope). I saw the following:

SSibalNom, Yes- the MIR is ends 12-31-03, start date 10-01-03, and postmark date by 01-30-04. Straight off the rebate form that printed from register. Btw, I would still like to have the free HL2 game, as per the CrapUsa ad that came in the paper today. As others have pointed out, it clearly shows the box with a sticker on the front advertising a coupon to redeem.Hmmmmm........ . I wonder if those that ordered online will get the same box(w/0 the sticker??). Good luck to all

It's a lukewarm deal with the MIR considering that other B&Ms are clearing it out as well for $150 AR.

I think the free HL2 comes with the new 9600SE... and you'll notice another thread on ATHD to tell you which 9600SE serial#s indicate a 9600Pro inside. You do get the coupon for free HL2 with the 9600SE and the 9600XT.

I got the LAST one at my local CompUsa today and it also doesn't have the HL2 Coupon. I think we are screwed but it sure would be nice to get that for free since I'll be buying it anyway. If anyone has a chance to contact CompUsa or ATI please post what they say. BTW does anyone know how to get rid of "File Player" ? I'd rather use Windows Media player instead, otherwise I'm real happy with the 9600 Pro. Great Price!

dirtrat, I haven't opened mine yet, so question is; does "File Player" load automatically at start-up? 1)If so, maybe disable it through your system configuraton utility, by going to RUN, type msconfig, click on the start-up tab. Look for the start-up program that runs "File Player" , and uncheck the box. Or, maybe look for the "File Player" program under add/remove programs in control panel. Just a guess.

No its not loaded at startup and you can't remove it from the Add/Remove. I could go in and manually change all of the file associations but that would take forever. There must be an easier way.

I work at CompUSA and I was going to post this deal until I saw this post. Retail price is 199.99 and this week you get 50 Instant Savings for a total of 149.99. ATI has a 20 dollar Mail-In-Rebate so the new total is 129.99 after rebates (+ tax of course). ALSO, make sure that you sign up for AOL free 3 month account at CompUSA when you buy it! You save 10 bucks and they will give you a paper with a 1-800 number to call and cancel the account. Trust me on this, like I said before I work at CompUSA. You don't even have to install the AOL software or use the account at all, just call and yell at AOL and save 10 bucks. Total cost of 9600 Pro, 120 bucks! Hope this helps!

Looks to me like that is only for the 9600 non-pro. Anyone checked to see if they'll honor it for the 9600 pro?
