Thanks for sharing this. Very tempting. After reading some threads in Storage sub-forum, it seems clear to me that my current SSD is under-performing, compared to something like one of these Intel 320 drives.

For example, one benchmark has 4K reads, QD32 at 120MB/sec. Mine is like 27MB/sec.

Edit: I currently have several OCZ Agility (1) 30GB SSDs. Indilinx Barefoot controller. Older, slower, but still mostly reliable.

Hmm, any idea how long this sale is going to last? Does BB normally do sales weekly, or is this a one/two-day thing?

Intel was offering a $50 rebate on these drives if purchased January 12th through January 14th, so I'm guessing there's a lot of extra stock floating around that they're trying to move in advance of their newer models hitting shelves. Keep an eye out for more rebates in the coming weeks, and get em while they're hot!

Yup I paid $79.99 for an 80GB last week (after $50 rebate) through Newegg. Of course, mine didn't come with the some of the accessories this package does though.

I was not sure this retail box had the migration kit for desktop and laptops , it does.

It's the same rebate that Intel was offering through Newegg on the 12th-14th of this month.

Best Buy did my dad one solid back in about 1992, he'd purchased a computer for me (Packard Bell 486 SX 33), and about 14 months later, it started not working right (don't recall the details). He took it back, and they gave him a FULL REFUND for the amount he'd paid a year earlier.

Well, he used that to buy a new Acer 486 DX2-50 and man that was a huge improvement. As a 14 year old kid, that's like heaven!

I hate BB as a corporation, and the way they prey on the ignorant (e.g., trying to tell people there's a difference between a $2 HDMI cable and an $80 HDMI cable), but I can see wanting to support local employees. My local BB has some pretty cool home theater guys that have been very solid in terms of offering good deals and delivery options for me. That said, if there's more than a $20 savings to buy elsewhere, there's really no question in my mind. The Intel rebates on these awesome drives are only being offered at certain places for certain limited dates right now, so get it wherever you can use the rebate imo.

The most surprizing thing about the USB-SATA adapter it comes with is it's USB 3.0. It also when connected, displays the original drive's manufacturer and model unlike other USB-SATA adapters.

What does that mean? On a laptop, if you needed to use any free cloning utility from (WD, Intel, Seagate) and you don't have installed inside your laptop or you don't have eSATA... you now can. I also wonder if it returns SMART. Some USB-SATA adapter do this.

Glad I grabbed the 120GB yesterday. I could have ordered it cheaper somewhere else, but I wanted it immediately and hate rebates with a passion.
