OMG the night maps drive me nuts! I will say it is a great expansion, but the load times are terrible - even with a gig of RAM. There are plenty of new things and maps too. Also, I noticed that when you install it, it puts an OLDER patch on for the regular game. It's not a big deal, just put the new patch back on. It's just kinda annoying.

At $20, I might think about getting it. I'm more likely to just ignore everything and wait for BF2142 because I want to see if they fix the server browser. As much as anyone loves BF2, they have to admit it's the wonkiest thing to ever show up in a game.

ah yes the server browser is awful. I hate that if the server you decide to play on uses SF to play, it shuts down your session and restarts the game just for SF. Last night, I clicked on one that totally locked my rig.
C'mon for $20 its a fun game. I like the zip lines, tear gas, and night vision. I also discovered that my beloved RTCW wasn't quite as fun anymore after playing BF2:SF.

Yeah I paid $30 for it awhile ago but not disappointed in it as most people are. BF2 as a whole isn't very great (mostly due to things like the server browser, and annoying ass l33t people with planes and armor the WHOLE time). So I like the infantry combat thats more in SF, and the maps Warlord and Ghost Town rock. The night maps are OK.. but yeah I agree the new unlocks are sweet. I pretty much bought it cause I was getting ub3r pwned when I started, mostly be the F2000. So I bought SF to unlock the F2000 and uber pwn them back.. then I guess they nerfed it, but its still a good weapon. I really hate how certain maps that the allied side like the SAS get way better weapons than the old Rebel ones.

I haven't unlocked the G36E yet but I get killed by it alot so it is next, teh SCAR-L is great too.

edit: I rarely use the zip-line, but the grappling hook fvcking owns!! In the city maps its very useful for getting a good vantage point on some capture areas.

yeah ea really has screwed up the in game browser. i use the all seeing eye and then write down the ip. kind of old school but it works.

any yeah i found out that when you install it, it takes you back to another version, so i had to re-download the latest patch, then i removed them movies and now it loads as fast as regular bf2 without the movies

FYI you don't need SF to get the SF unlocks. If one of your buddies owns SF just have thme log into your account play a round or two and you'll get access to the unlocks.

I love SF more than plain ole BF2.

It's a lot more intense because the maps are smaller (with just as many cap points) and the addition of the zip lines and grappling hooks means that you can go ANYWHERE.

I love the grappling hook. I'm like freaking spider-man.
