i went to sam's club to buy some ink for my printer and i found out that the ink cost more than a new printer. I ejded up buying the Canon i560, which is a great printer IMO. Other places have this printer for around $100.

I bought the i560 from Sam's at Christmas for this price. Great deal! The prints are incredible. Best Buy had it for $130 less a $30 rebate. So tax still had to be paid on on the $130, and then you had to wait for the lousy rebate. I may be wrong, but I believe CompUSA also has the 50% off of photo paper this week. Together, you can't lose.

Costco has the same printer for about the same price. I guess the difference between this and the retail version is the included USB cable. This model (i560s) does not qualify for the current $30 rebate available in retail stores.

Might consider i860 at Costco for $139 plus a $50 rebate if you bought a Canon digital camera between 11/03 - present. Printer/camera can be separate purchases.

i560 & i560s arer very nice printers. Print/photo quality is top notch.

Features I like is Auto-power on and off (adjustable), silent mode (adjustable time zone....)
Removable print head (easier to clean if required).
Both USB and Parallel support...and both can be used at same time. I have it hooked directly to my main PC via USB, but also have it connected via parallel to a multi-port jetdirect box).

There is NO difference between the i560 and i560s. I suspect it has to do with pricing and marketing. Wholesale places carry the i560s, retail shops carry the i560.

I've picked up a bunch of these for exec's at my company.....they love them compared to the various types of HP Deskjets they have.....

Text quality is superb and prints lightning fast, even if you are considering buying a new printer for text only. I bought a i560 to replace my old Laserjet 5L which had irritating paper feeding issues despite the repair kit from HP.

After getting the i560, I am extremely happy that I did not consider the higher models. This printer is perfect for my needs, and I find the print quality better than any of the b&m printing services I have used.

I like these S printers because it includes USB cable. If you buy regular retail you have to buy USB cable separately.

Better deal would be to go to Staples and price match it against their $129.98 price. Canon also has a rebate for $30, so $129.98 - 44.56 (110% price guaranteed) - $30 = 55.42 + tax. If you can get in a $20 coupon, then it'll only be $35.42 +tax, but I guess that would be a YMMV.

I don't think you can price match with Sam because it is a for "member" only store.

I've had no problem price matching with them nor Costco. The staples price match policy does not exclude membership-based retailers. As long as it's an actual B&M location, it's valid. If the price match is from an Internet dealer, then that's a YMMV.

It's a huge YMMV because the model numbers aren't the same.

Well, if they're both Canon i560's, then they're the same. But if the Sam's model is a i560s or something like that, then I can see your point. But it's still worth a shot. I've know people who were able to price match with Costco on a HP G85 all-in-one about a year and a half ago.

Costco had the G85xi (about $199), while staples had the G85Cse or something like that for about $299. Yes, as you stated it's a YMMV. But no harm in trying.

try using another 1 or 2 kits from HP.

I used 3 and now it doesn't jam at all.

I have the HP 6L btw......was in garbage bin at work

Anyone have any luck PMing Costco/Sams at a Circuit City or Best Buy??

My local costco doesn't carry the i860 in stock, so i'd rather get it from a b&m.

I've sucessfully pricematched the i560 at Staples using Costco's low price last summer (even though Costco had the i560s). It was no problem. Did it all by phone. This is a great all around printer, but the i960 is even better for photos. I'm extremely happy with both of them.

The i560s at COSTCO includes the USB cable in the box and is specifically marketed to wholesalers. As a matter of fact when I called Canon support the woman helping me stated that the two models were identical except for the addition of the cable with the unit sold to wholesalers. She actually said that the "s" stands for Sam's club model. She also said that is the reason that the "s" model was specifically excluded from the recent $30 rebate.

We were, but it was a more generic PMing question. I've read very good things about the i860 and that is the one i'm going to get, the best price i had found was around $135 at Costco

Oh, okay. Try PMing the price at Staples. People seem to have an easier time PMing with Staples than anywhere else. Their PM policy seems to be less restrictive than Circuit City or Best Buy too. Especially Best Buy!

Believe it or not, Sears is a great place to price match. They not only pricematch + 10% any local competitors B&M but they also pricematch +10 % any local competitors on-line price. This works out especially well because the Sears normal retail price is usually much higher than anyone else giving you a larger deduct for the pricematch. An example of a recent buy I got was pricematching the $30 sale price for 128MB Sandisk SD cards at Microcenter. Since Sears normal price for this item was $90, my final price was $30-($90-$30)x10%=$24.
