Warm deal: 2002 Honda Accord at Carsdirect

I've noticed that Honda has been offering a dealer's incentive for the 2002 Accord for at least a few months now. But recently, it seems to have gotten even better. Carsdirect has lower price than when I checked last month. Check this out:

4-dr 2.3 SE
Carsdirect price: $17,950
Invoice: $19,226

4-dr 3.0 V6 LX
Carsdirect price: $19,471
Invoice: $20,799

4-dr 2.3 EX
Carsdirect price: $18,575
Invoice: $19,810

I think this is about $400 lower than the price last month.

Anyway, I've also heard that next year (2003)'s Accord will have a different body style. Maybe that's why they're offering the dealer's incentive this year.

Still, the up side for getting this year's model is that you know it's been around for quite a while now so it's probably pretty thoroughly debugged by now. The down side is the resale value might be affected a bit, although from what I've read, this might be minimal, if at all.

I was also comparing the SE and the EX, but am leaning more towards the SE. Both have power moonroof. The only major difference is EX has ABS whereas SE doesn't. Also, I guess if you're a stick shift person, then definitely you should go with the EX. If you're an automatic person, the SE is a better deal.

yes, the SE is a good deal, but those prices appear to be regional only...i am getting around $19,000 for the SE and $18,900 for the EX...so i would go for the EX...i think i am goin to wait though

Watch it there, I noticed carsdirect doesn't list the REAL invoice price that's given to us on other sites. With no options, the prices should be this.

4-dr 2.3 SE
Carsdirect price: $17,950
Invoice: $19,226
True Invoice Price : $18767

4-dr 3.0 V6 LX
Carsdirect price: $19,471
Invoice: $20,799
True Invoice Price : $20339

4-dr 2.3 EX
Carsdirect price: $18,575
Invoice: $19,810
True Invoice Price : $19351

and yes, the way it is right now, new 2003 model coming out.. they will go lower than real invoice easily. I would email your local dealerships to beat the carsdirect price, then once they do, email that to every dealer and keep repeating. You will get at least $1000 off true invoice. I was able to get $600 off invoice on a Civic, but the next week, they went $500 below even that on the newspaper. Anyways, once you get the email pricematch deal going, if you get like two dealers at the end and they are both not lowering their prices, call them up and say that they have a deal, if they can throw in a floor mat or else you will try the other dealership. Ofcoarse they'll throw it in. My dealer tried to BS his way out once we got there, but we told him to keep his words and he did it. Good luck!

I would personally wait for the new Accord since the model won't change for 4 years on the new Accord. 4 years later, you can still sell it as the newest model out. But ofcoarse, you won't be able to go below invoice on the new models.

It would be a real good deal if Honda would give a better warranty than GM's 3yrs/36,000 miles. Then fewer people would have to fork over about another $1000 for an extended warranty. Like my two sisters did.

Strange, I got a 5/75k warranty on my 2001 S-10, bumper to bumper. Fuse blows, they drive out and replace it. Didn't pay a dime for it.

If you do a little searching on various honda forums out there, there are a bunch of people who have gotten a 7/100 honda factory extended warranty for $595 (I think odyclub, com was where I saw it, when I was shopping for my van)

I'm sure the accord will be a different story, but in 01, I got a Civic for ~$150 below invoice. It was the first year for the restyle on that model.

I did print Carsdirect price and went to local dealer. They'll definitely beat or match the price. I've been a big fan of Honda. Reliability and higher resale value are big factor for me.

The Toyota Camry and Honda Accord are in a whole other class in terms of reliability, resale value and good crash test results compared to the Hyundai.

Do yourself a favor and test drive a VW passat 1.8T manual!

I was in the same boat as you. I was driving a 93 Accord and loving it but it got totaled.

Really tried to force myself to like the 2002 accord but it drove nothing like my 93. Shifting was stiff/wierd.

Almost 3000 miles and I have never in my life been more happy with a car.

If you are looking for an automatic it's a whole other story. Could not get "in" to the funky passat shifting plus driving was not 1/2 as fun. If I was getting an automatic would just go with the Accord/camry as in my book they all suck.

A-tech is really not the right place for non-overclocked cars, BUT I've seen some heated car discussion in the OT forums.

Warranty? Who cares, Honda's never die.

Yeah sure. Like the Acura Legend I bought out of the showroom. It was a lemon from the first day. I dumped it in less than a year.
I know it was the exception to the rule. But still.............................Like the current Civic. Look at Consumer Reports. It's reliability is worse than the Cavalier or Sunfire.

And the Odyssey is worse than the Mazda MPV.

But I sure do love the new CRV. I really want one, but can't accept the poor warranty. I hope Honda gets with the program so I can buy one.

I love carsdirect they have awesome pricing, I just got a ford ranger and what I wanted was very difficult to find, but since all carsdirect does is deal directly with the fleet manager who doesn't take a commission they normally sell for just above invoice.

One thing I noticed is if your going to get a car now's the time to buy everybody is offering a rebate of some sort and if your getting a honda which are plentiful go check out your local fleet manager and see what he/she says you might find a deal.

I am not getting that price for the Honda Accord, I get a price of $19,560 including rebates. Is this a different zip code, therefore a better price?

Could be related to zip code. My zip is 94087. Just now I checked and the prices are still the same as when I first posted this deal.

The EX also has 6-disc CD changer with cassette deck, an alarm/keyless remote, side-airbags standard...

I finally give in and order a Odyssey EX this weekend, only $400 below the sticker price (MSRP)=26800. They only throw in 2 options: mud guard and cargo cover. It will not be here until July...
