got one of these at the beginning of the rebate for $25 ar...

it's a nice quiet psu that moves a lot of air...

but it doesn't have an 8 pin mobo connector, but it has 2 pcie 6 pins (on the same wire)...

it also only has one string of 4 pin connectors and one string of sata connectore... very limited number of conenctions...

i ended up sticking it in my fry's combo box since it wouldn't do for my ip35-e box i'm redoing (and using the antec 430 for the ip35-e)...

the 500w unit seems to have fewer connectors than the 600w one. This PSU has fewer than 30A total on the 12v rails, but should be adequate for a medium build (one of the Newegg reviewers uses it to power a HD4870 and a AMD 5200x2).

I have both the 600w and 500w versions. The 500W is louder than the 600W, almost annoyingly so.

I've used a few 500W StealthXStreams, and find them to be too loud from the higher initial RPM of the fan. I think they'd still be considered quiet for people who aren't quiet-PC enthusiasts though (i.e. there certainly are much louder PSUs).

Will check out the 600W next time. Does your 500W just have more wind noise from the fan being run at higher RPM, or does your 500W's fan emit an annoying whine?

maybe i got a quiet one (or my hearing is gone bad) but mine's real quiet when just doing web and such... i will have to crank it up a bit to see if if gets noisy, but a e2810@2.5; one disk; one dvd; and a 8800gts640 really shouldn't heat up a psu too much...

I got one on the previous deal and initially put it in my HTPC... it was out and replaced with a Antec TPT 430 within a day. The psu is loud and has VERY short cables, annoying for a medium or full size case.

Now this psu is powering my lanbox which is perfect. It's a SFF case and is used only in louder enviroments so its wonderfully suited for it.

Talking about noise level is silly without specifying the load. The same psu that's quiet at 30% load may be loud as heck at 80% load. The 500W model may be just as quiet as the 600W when both are loaded at 50%, but if you put the same wattage on one as you put on the other the 500W ends up louder since it's at a higher % load.

600W - Quiet but not silent (didn't expect it to be). After my video card, this is the second in rank as far as noisiness is concerned. But really you have to strain your ears somewhat to hear the PSU fan. Also my MSI 9600GT video card is much more noisy (very unhappy with it) so it really doesn't matter.

Only 3 SATA connectors and all on same cable. With every one having at least one optical drive and one HDD, the PSU can limit you with ease.

I have an Antec 900 with PSU mounted on the base. Cables to mobo made it with ease but there is absolutely no room to route the cables other than the most direct route. So for those wanting to do a great job of making the cables as inconspicuous as possible, you may be out of luck with this one. Other than that, cable lengths on this PSU are just fine.

Rebate was a bit slow, but it did come in. Overall, I paid $28 and for that price, this is an outstanding mid-range PSU.

Beware.. im still waiting for my rebate on the OCZ SS power supply I bought from newegg back in December. Mailed it the day after I received the PSU too.

I bought this back in Oct with the ram combo (2x1gb) for $77.99 both with rebates ($20 + $25). Rebates took about 2 months, but great deal for only $23. PSU is being used in my file server and the ram is just collecting dust.
