Well, it sure as hell has more features than the Live! 5.1(not including Platinum) does at that price. CGW did a review on it and gave it 4.5 out of 5 stars! Thats pretty dam good. Has its own DSP processor that can handle any API any time. That includes EAX, A3D, and so on. Has full digital and analog outputs for AC3 5.1 speaker setups. I am grabbing one for sure!

granted, no tax which is a big plus...but...

anyways, it's Philips so it must be good, nuf said. I'd get it, but i'm gonna hold out for the 5.1 model. Someone find me a deal on that please?

Igotgas - I just bought mine from Outpost for $79.95 shipped, taking advantage of Amex Store Free shipping. Arrived 3 days later. Awesome card, made sure to get the Acoustic Edge. Gonna hook it up to a set of Klipsch Promedia 4.1s when I get some more money. If you want to get an OEM version, they sell it at Computergate.com for $59.95. Good deal for this card, same as or even better than a soundblaster 5.1. Search for "Acoustic Edge" to find the other thread.

Amazon must have typo, MSRP for 3 card are $100/80/50 respectively, Amazon has them at $80/45/45. So $45 for this 4-channel is a warm to hot deal.

What's the advantage of the Acoustic Edge card if I don't need the Dolby decoding?

Currently I got a SB live value, but it seems like it's time to upgrade. Gotta set of Klipsch 4.1s and been reading up on the AE, time to upgrade...sigh

Fellas, lets get one thing straight here, the card listed at Amazon and Tech store are the Philips Seismic Edge, NOT the Acoustic edge. Philips has 3 cards in their line, Acoustic edge, Seismic edge and rythmic edge

This one is probably the lower end card not the accoustic edge.

from philips website product spec:
AE - spdif in and out, 6 ch analog out
SE - spdif out only, 6 ch analog out
RE - spdif out only, 4 ch analog out

if the price difference between AE and SE is big, I'd buy SE unless I need spdif in.

By the way, since this thread is about digital audio card, I was wondering if anyone has seen Intelli Cable sold anywhere. I don't know if this is a special cable made just by Midiland, but it's a G9 to Dual 3.5mm analog cable. I have the Midiland 8200 speakers, right now I use SPDIF connection from my sound card to the DD decoder unit. The sound is awful for A3d/EAX. Midiland has them out of stock right now, and I can't seem to find this anywhere, not even ebay. If anyone can help, I'll be greatful. Thanks.

well if this card is the seismistic edge beware all windows2k users. The drivers for win2k will not support all 4 channels.

Just beware it happened to me now i'm stuck with a working 2 channel card.
