Warm (?) deal on a WEGA (Sears pricematching)

Hi, first time attempt at a possibly warm deal... more of an object lesson in Sears pricematching, really:

Apparently, Sears will pricematch any store, online or otherwise, that actually has a location that you can walk into and buy stuff (officially, if there isn't an actual storefront where you can do a pickup, they're supposed to charge you the sale price plus whatever shipping would cost). That being said, if you get a decent sales guy, he/she will usually pricematch any ol' printout you give him. So when I was looking for a TV, I found some good deals online for the Sony WEGA KV-27FS13, their mid range 27" WEGA, for $469.98, and $484 (plus shipping). Sears retails this model for $650, some locations have it on sale. The MSRP is $699. I'm sure you guys can find a better deal out there, these were the first few links that popped up on Google ("sony kv-27fs13 sale").

So I printed out a couple of price sheets from these online places, and took them over to Sears. The guy said he had to call to confirm, but just gave me the PM anyway (it was about 5:00, and the store/phone lines were closed). End result, I ended up getting a wega for nearly $200 less'n retail.

I can confirm this deal ... I used PM at Sears to get the Wega I'm watching right now. From my experience though, they will only pricematch "major" websites (ie: bluelight/bestbuy/circuitcity). Good luck to you guys.

I just PM them with the scroungiest website I could find, they even ate the shipping, took $600 off my new Toshiba big screen 61H71

You have to put up with Sears service, evidently they purchase big ticket items from manuf with the understanding that Sears will provide all the service, but they also have deep pockets & have been making many big screen TV buyers happy with their liberal return policies...

usually whenever its an online store they always ask to have shipping included, those sites you found for 470 probably had 100+ shipping,

also i don't know what sears you go to but the kv-27fs13 is the lower end model and retails for 550 at sears, bestbuy, cc and most other stores, the kv-27fs17, which is the same as the 13 but has PIP is 650

a little off topic but, i decided not to buy a wega when i saw how many were returned after christmas at my local bestbuy, 2 kv-27fs13, and 2 kv-32fs13 because they didn't work, or the pictures were all messed up, might have been a bad batch, but even the people working there said to stay away from lower and mid ranged wegas, they're just a name now, there isn't a great product there anymore

Sony recently announced their 2002 lineup. Looks like they are revamping across the board with new features/improvements.

If you don't need the latest and greatest, wait a month or two for the closeouts...

Sorry there broadwayblue, I just did a search for "sony kv-27fs13 sale" on Google, and the first two sites that popped up were:

I bought a Sony WEGA KV-27FS13 for $448.00 + tax on Feb 23rd from Best Buy. Prior to my purchase I had been shopping for about a month and this is by far the best price. Obviously, there is no shipping and you take it home right when you buy it. I haven't checked the price since I purchased 9 days ago, but it might be worth looking into.

I bought Sony WEGA 27fs13 for 449.00 + tax and 4year warranty plan from BB. It was PM to J&R Flyer. Since I'm in CT and not so far from NYC, they do PM for me. My friend used my reciept to PM at local Tweeter for the same price.

Being in NYC has few advantages but one of them has to be the ghetto chinese ctores. I have no idea where they get their stuff from but during christmas I fried my old 32" XBR sony. I went out shopping for new tv and I like the 36" XBR 45 and I think it was retailing for 2499 or something. I went in to a chinese place in Flushing and the guy said, you like this tv? Ok $1600 no tax delivered. Needless to say, I have been enjoying the tv ever since
