Found a couple deals that proved useful to me, and haven't really seen many deals similar recently so I figured I'd post them for you guys to check out! Here they are:

3com 10/100 Network Card $49.98 add these 16 cent item which makes you over $50 at $50.14 - $20 coupon + free shipping for orders over $50 = $30.14 + tax!

Most pricewatch sites are showing $38+ for this card plus shipping of around $8 so this is a pretty good deal at $15 less than those sites.

Microsoft Natural Pro Keyboard $66.99 - $20 coupon + free shipping for orders over $50 = $46.99 + tax!

This is the one with 19 hot keys and 2 additional USB ports on the back along with the natural ergonomic shape. Cheapest price available on pricewatch for this is about $50 + $10 shipping so this is about $13 cheaper than most other sites as well. I think both of these are decent deals, and hope they can help someone else out.

For what it's worth: While that's definitely a high-quality NIC, and this price appears to be the lowest available, I think that's an outrageous amount to pay for a NIC these days. I get great performance from Linksys cards I've picked up through various deals for about $10 each.

I agree with you that LinkSys cards probably provide similar performance, I merely like 3com because of the wake-on-lan features (wakes up your lan card on remote requests) and stability. 3com is one of the best at what they do and this is merely a card for someone who's building the ultimate performance system and only wants the best in their systems.

well, the linksys card I pick up for $10 also had the wake-on-lan...

The only thing that the 3com NICs have that most others dont have is the ability to boot from it. (network booting).

Search for SKU# 66377 at Outpost.com.

Linksys LNE100TX 10/100 Auto-sensing Ethernet card with Wake-on-Lan.

Top quality, and $18.99 including next-day shipping.

linksys is NOT high quality.

there IS a difference in the quality of NICs. I work for Network Services for a university and we see all kinds of cards and the ones that give us the most trouble are the Dlinks, the Linksys and the ATI cards. netgear is the kind we sell since they are good price and they work very well. 3Com is for sure a step above the rest since you can do so much configuration to them. I have owned linksys cards and they are just annoying to use. the connections I get is just not the same, and the reliability is not there.

I've used nothing but Linksys for years, and never had a problem. They're also highly rated everywhere you look. (Mindspring/Earthlink uses this very card for all of their DSL installations.)

Could you point us to a poor (or even average) review of this card?

And what is the "configuration" you want to do to a NIC that you can't do with Linksys, exactly?

I agree totally with pyr. 3com and Intel Nics are alot better quality then the sub $20.00 cards.
There is nothing wrong with the other brands, I just like using something that I know will last.
3com & Intel Nics are also far better when a heavy load comes through. I'd like to see a fast server
try and handle a cheapo Nic without bogging down everything.

Just my opinion

I have several Linksys that work just as good as any other except when it comes to major overclocking. My main system is at a 150MHz bus speed and the Linksys can surf fine but will hang when downloading, I'm currently using an old ISA Intel Pro 10. Ironically, if you do an install of WinME with a Netgear card, it will automatically install it as a Linksys LNE100TX and works just fine. I also work for a University, we sell some cheap-ass SMC nics which are practically bullet proof. I've got them to work in systems where the above 3Com card has failed.

I too work as a system administrator and prefer to deal only with NIC brands such as 3Com. The stuff from linksys, dlink, etc tends to be junk (in my experience and opinion). I have had great reliablilty and support from 3com products and will stick with them. Additionally 3com NICs have better built-in support in MS operating systems - there's nothing more fun than installing a fresh OS on a PC only to find some lame linksys card in there and having to hunt down the drivers.....

It depends on what's important to you. If price is of paramount importance then got with what's cheapest. I just don't see how you can argue with spending $45 on a 3C905C-TX!

I just think for the average home user, paying an extra $25 for the 3Com is a waste of money. If you're running a server, by all means by the best card you can find.

review? who cares about reviews.. Im talking about acutal hands on experience that. Thats a damn bit more important than a review. What kinda configuration can you do to the 3Com cards? You can actual adjust all sorts of values. you can set it for max performance with higher CPU useage, or lower performance with low CPU usage and you do adjust its error correcting abilities. They are great cards and they are supported by almost every OS that uses networking since they are industry standard. those linksys cards? just the LNE100TX 10/100 card you mention has *5* different iterations. each of them is different. that makes it a pain in the ass for determining what driver you need and for support in alternative OSes. why buy a linksys for 20$ when you could pick up a 3Com in the FS/FT forum here for about 25 or so? thats just stupid.

I have the Linksys card in four computers, all running at top speed with no network problems. I guess you'd call that hands-on experience.

Anyways, this is silly. I was just giving a vote to the cheaper card. I'm not saying there's anything WRONG with the 3Com.

Just hate it when people talk about how a product sucks and doesn't work, and I've been using it for years with no problems. And as for worrying about all the versions of the Linksys card: If you're putting it into a Windows machine, no worries. Auto detection in Win95, 98, and 2000, and Windows comes with all the drivers you need.

I host alot of lan parties and had 3 people so far that could not log onto the network with there 3com cards. They went down to best buy and picked up a linksys card and downloaded the lastest drivers and Lan parting they could do now I have linksys cards running on 4 puters and all works great. Never any troubles at all. And for having 5 versions of the linksys card....thats called new technology. Why do we need a PIII or now a PIV when just a plain pentium will do?
