Warm: Diamond Viper II 32mb w/tv out refurb for $16, ms mouse $9

I don't know how great these cards are, but hey, they're cheap, especially if you just want a plain tv-out.
Diamond Viper II 32mb video card Microsoft mouse. Shipping is $7.50 for 1 item so it's not really hot unless you buy 3 or so ($9 shipping.) I thought some one might need some of these. PO

The Viper II was a massive disapointment, or rather the chip it used was, the s3 savage2000 Was going to be a competitor for Geforce(one or two I forget) but when shipped had lots of driver problems. The drivers got a bit better latter and it did end up perfomring a bit less then a GeForce 2 GTS. Some features never did work quite right though (HW T&L for one which isn't a big deal as now cards of the time are hampered by HW T&L when paired to even sort of modern procs.) I mean the card will work, and it used to be really really fast 2d in Linux if you could get it setup right, but really just get a tnt2, or a radeon ve, or gfmx.

Um.. what are you talking about ? it wasn't suppose to compete with a GF2 or not even A GF.
It was released way before the GF cards from what I remember.

And the card was about 80-130 bucks depending on where you purchased it and the GF cards were well over 200.

Edit: I owned a Viper II and it owned major ass running all the games I played on it.

ACtually the viper II was 200 retail and BEAT a Geforce SDR in Quake3 and unreal tournament performance. It also natively supported UT's s3texture set found on the second cd. I don't think a game has yet been released that has more detailed textures than UT using the s3metal driver.

BTW: I owned one unitl my screwdriver slipped while taking off the gpu heatsink

I had one too and used it in a number of systems with 95, 98 and XP. It was ok when I worked right, but boy did I have to spend a alot of time screwing around with it whenever I made significant hardware changes. Every new game brought challenges getting them to run (eventually you usually could). Used a lot of different tweaked drivers and read an enormous amount of posts from pissed off owners. I'd let you have mine for $10 plus postage but I'm thinking of framing it for all the hours I invested in getting it to work right.

I also owned one. Wasn't worth the trouble when sh1t didn't work, the drivers blew big time.

Eventually I just bought a gf2mx, a little better performance and much more stability, still using it right now.
