It isn't a bad product. I got it free when MSFT was running a free promo. Its uses the Zone Alarm engine for firewall. The antivirus doesn't seem to bog down my computer like NAV does.

I think this stuff is free for a year if you download it after applying the xp service pack from Microsoft. Computer Associates is one of their partners and msft gives you a link to download the software.

The CA-branded ZoneAlarm firewall is nice. If CA EZ Armor isn't to your liking you can always try out Panda AV here.

I have the 1 year free trial and I enjoy it a whole lot! doesn't seem to slow my system at all, which I really hate about the others...

Right click the EZ AV icon in your system tray, Select About, unclick the "Show at Startup" box. You can also access from the main program by clicking on Help, About.

Just another option and not a crap. You might want to also look into the free zone alarm and AVG antivirus. They both work well and are updated regularly. Best of all, they are free! You have other choices too. I just wanted to mention these two.

I find the startup screen to be very useful, not only does it give me the assurance that everything is running, but it also shows the date of the last virus signature download, just to be sure I am up to date. If I didn't see the splash, I might never think about it. Good product. Highly recommended.

Looks like AVG support for 6.0 will end on 12/31/04

Grisoft announces the end of support for AVG version 6.0 effective on December 31, 2004 for technical reasons. This version has been available since 1999. Its structure does not allow for further improvements planned for version 7 nor improvements in detection techniques expected to come in the future.

End of support means we will no longer provide program updates or Virus Database updates for version 6.0 and therefore, within days, this version will not protect against new virus outbreaks!

Current AVG 6.0 users should upgrade to AVG 7.0. Information on upgrading to version 7.0

In case some might worry that they will no longer have a free version of AVG:
