yeah my dad has an x31, and i've always thought it was much nicer to type on and such.

I would figure a pentium M 1.5 would be plenty fast compared to a netbook so i'm tempted as well.

i think the main difference between the x31 and x41 is the x41 uses ddr2 and the i915 (the x31 seems to use an ati x300 and ddr1) based on my experience with myd ads x31 this is probably a pretty good notebook.

DDR2 memory but PATA hard drives. Core Duo-era laptops (one generation after this) were the first to use SATA.

I dunno. Screen res is about the same this one has 1024 x 768 and netbooks have 1024x600.

This one is MUCH havier and larger and NO OPTICAL DRIVE as well.

smaller hdd .

And this is used.

interesting but I'll still go with my EEE 904ha (it was about same price).

That's the shipping weight, not the weight of the laptop.

A laptop is not something I feel comfortable buying used. Half the purpose of buying a laptop is to run it off the battery, geeks doesn't even guarantee it is in good shape.

Laptops see way more abuse than other electronics too.

It is better than the C stock one. I'm assuming anything used can't be A at geeks, since A would be for manufacturer refurb.

THats why I figured this was just a warm deal with the battery thing and all. It is cheaper than most netbooks though, and based on ibm keyboards i've used has a far superior keyboard (and its faster) so i guess it has that going for it.

Well if you look at what B stock means on geeks, everything other than the first option's a show stopper...

# Has Cosmetic Blemishes, examples of which are (but not limited to):

* Scratches in case
* Scratches in the screen
* Hairline crack in case
* Dead pixels (5 or less)
* Missing doors
* Battery is not guaranteed to hold a charge
* Battery is not covered under warranty

The X41 weighs 3.3 lbs, which is within an ounce of the 10" Asus 1000HA (3.2lbs, if I recall).

6 LBS is probably the shipping weight...

whats the battery life like new on a pentium-m vs atom? I've been selling a buddy on netbooks (I got a mini as an impulse buy) but I'm pretty sure he'd prefer a better keyboard and slightly bigger screen

i think the base battery on an x41 is a 4 cell. they have an 8 cell also. i know when i've used an x31 before its a little over 2 hours on a 4 cell. most netbooks are 3 cells so i guess its fairly similar a 3 cell atom vs a 4 cell pentium m
