Warm? Hercules Game Theater XP for $75.50.

I have just checked www.bestbuy.com , and they have Hercules Game Theater XP for $75.50. It used to be $99.99 which was not bad either, but now I think this is hot!!

To think I bought one of these for like $120 a year back.......

But I really think these sound card blows Creative sound cards out of the water ....... I hooked up 2 set of Logitech Z-560 into one of these sound cards and I'm getting 7.2 setup.

I mean..... what more can I ask ?

I've had mine for a year. Unobtrusive, clean software, great sound, great breakout box. Works well with XP.

Highly recommended.

BTW, does anyone know the difference between the old version and the new version?

I think they released the new version with a new design for the breakout box. Anything else different from the old version? I had mine for a year, so I had the old version.

IIRC, I think the new version just comes with a 6.1 version if WinDVD (or PowerDVD), whereas the older version came with a 5.1 version I think. The breakout box looked the same to me when I looked at it in a store. Also, I think current owners can upgrade to the 6.1 version through Hercules site.

I rushed to BestBuy after I had found the deal, and bought it. I think this card gives you more clean and spacious sound than Live. It does give better 3D direct sound with a headphone than Live. However, the box can't give enough power to my Sony MDR-CD780 (nice and comfortable headphone), and I can't find a way to increase bass either...
I am still wondering whether I should keep this box or not...

Quick question: is this Game Theater XP the 6.1 or the original 5.1? According to best buy, it supports up to 6 speakers..

The one I got today at Best Buy says 6.1, though on the web it looks like the old one.

I saw the boxes for both the 5.1 and 6.1..

so I thought it would be a 5.1 card looking at best buy's online site.. but then you say you got the 6.1..
now I don't know if its worth ordering online (no store close to my area has it in stock atm)

I hate it when stores misrepresent products :|

Hmm, if it's this price in the B&M, I'll check it out when I leave work. I need a sound card for a extra PC, and my old SBlive value can go there if this is on sale...

There is one and only one GTXP. Even if you get the 5.1 version, you can upgrade to 6.1 by downloading and installing the latest driver, available at hercules' website.

Really? I thought there was more to it than that..

but after checking out "upgrading the gtxp 5.1 to 6.1" <edit> on google that is..</edit> I guess you're right

Hi, I called BestBuy and the lady said it was 99.99, and is 99.99 on the shelf. But it rings up $75.50 when you bring it to the cashier. I just bought mine yesterday (the 13th), seems pretty schnazzy. Print the price from BestBuy.com if you want extra reassurance. Replaced my SBLive, love the dedicated headfone jack.

The BB's in SD didn't have any instock, so yeah I ended up ordering online. Only reason I wanted to pick it up local was because school is starting next thursday and it'll get to my house after I've already moved away to school . Guess I'll just have to wait a extra week to come back and get it
