If you like the "Plug" in ear headsets, CC has them on sale for 9.99. (In the flyer)
Only reason I mention this is I started using them a few years ago, and the price started at 14.99 at BB and I think the last ones I bought from BB were over $20.

Some like them, some don't. But at $10 it's hard to pass up.

BTW, you guys are great finding the deals. Thanks,

Going into the silent mode now,

Jim

Quality earbuds are hard to find. Personally, I like Sony's the best (who'd of thunk it?) because they have a little bit of built in bass boost and the sound quality is much more rich and full. Also, mine are the kind that the right side has a longer cord, so you can wrap it around the back of your neck. I hate it when they fall out because my clothes pull on it...

I have these (and paid double the price). I like them alot when I mow the lawn and travel on planes. They block out all the noise that my AIWA nose canceling ones do and they don't weigh a ton. I hardly notice them (except when they start to come out).

Sorry, I thought they were a good deal. I havenâ??t seen them at Wallmart around here. If they are selling them for $10 I guess I've been overpaying.
I haven't bought them for myself in a couple of years, but buy them for my son who likes them. I used them for about 6 months and then bought Etymotic's ER-4S.

I was wondering what model the JVC and Maxell's are? I would like to pick up some of those for my son. How well do the cushion inserts isolate the outside noise?

Looks like I may learn more than I expected here. $2.99 for an in ear foam isolated earbud set would be great. Also, any idea about the maximum output (SLP), and sensitivity figures. Even at $3.99 these sound like you really have a bargain.

It is a good deal! Unfortunately, I just received these for my birthday

The Koss foam design requires too much work for my laziness, but for only $10, can't go wrong!

hey mermaidman how are those Fontopia's? Are they worth the money? Cause I'm lookin at the Sennheiser's right now which look mighty tempting.

They sound great to me. The best feature is the awesome bass. One drawback is that the silicone plugs look fragile and I'm not sure if replacements are easily available. Ambient sounds are mostly blocked out, so if you're in a situation where you need to be aware of your surroundings, that "feature" is a liability.

Also, the cord is very short, but an extension is included. Without the extension, it's only 21" long. The extension adds another 41".

If any of you are really into your portable music your ears deserve a pair of the Shure E2C in canal earbuds - they fit like a glove (well, er, a glove you stuff in your ear canal!), sound fantastic, and block out outside noise (be careful crossing the street). They're pricey - about $100 - but they really are the ultimate earbud!

Whoa when did those come out?! I have a pair I bought over a year ago when they were imported from Asia and I lost the medium sized bud things. I wonder where I can pick up replacements

I have tried a lot of the earbuds, as I have tried to find something I could use on stage that didn't cost a fortune. Some of the pro buds go for over a grand with the molds. (No electronics, just the buds and molds... like FutureSonic)

I tried the Shure line of buds, and they are very good. I have tried every model Sony makes, and used a few for a while. The Sennheiser's are good, and have more mids than the Koss. But the Etymotic's sound better to me than any of the buds under $500. They list for $300, but I found a dealer a couple of years ago selling them for $259. I think you can still pick them up for that.

The Koss "Plug" is a good in ear bud for casual listening. The Sennheiser would be the next step up, then Sony, then Shure, then Etymotic, then... hang on to your wallet.... ( Of course this is just an opinion)

Sorry, I'm no expert on these. I just thought someone might like a good set of buds at a good price. They would make nice gift at Christmas.

Turning cloaking back on.....

I actually prefer the JVC over the Koss. The JVC have a much better bass and overall can produce a much louder volume. When there is a lot of background noise (like when mowing the lawn) I could barely hear using the Koss but only had to use 1/2 volume on my mp3 player using the JVC. I really couldn't be happier with the JVCs..

Sennheiser makes the best, but outside of ebay they are hard to find. I started with the cheapo Mx300, liked them fine, but later bought a set of the Mx400 to compare and like them better, same great sound, more efficient (louder at the same power level). The Mx500 is the same bud as the Mx400, but has an inline volume. I paid $7.97 shipped from Spidergear on ebay for the Mx400.

Trivia point on the Sennheisers, they don't use conventional voicecoil drivers, they use AMT air motion tranfer devices, sort of like pleated ribbons.

Comparing to $300 ear canal Etymotics is pretty pointless, even if they do sound almost as good as my HD600's. That class of headphone really needs a headphone amp to sound its best, and then you get to hear whats wrong with all the rest of your stuff.

Interesting mod....boy some folks sure have a lot of time on their hands...not only to do the mod, but to photograph and write it all up on a web site too.

I prefer the Sony's myself. I picked up a set at Best Buy for 10 bucks a couple months back and I was in there about two weeks ago and my girlfriend bought the same set for 10 bucks so I'm guessing that's regular price.

Bought these about a month ago. For 28.49$ shipped, more than worth it. I don't see how these are any different from the $49.99 EX71's at Best Buy. These buds can't compare to the ER's my friend has, but they work well if you listen to a clean cd. With lower bitrate stuff I get distortion (especially bass) at high volumes. my $0.02
