128MB - PC133 (SKU 775-461) - (I couldn't find it online.)

Advertised in this week's office depot flyer for $19.99 - $5.00 MIR = $14.99. There's a $15 off $50 coupon (they mailed one to me), but the usual sites probably have it posted. Rebate is limited to one per person, per receipt. The cashier at my OD was willing to ring them up separately so I could get all 3 $5 rebates and use the $15 off $50.

$60 - $15 (coupon) - $5 (MIR) = $40
$40 - $10 (2 MIRs) = $30

The ones I picked up have Samsung chips - Is that good or bad? I guess this is warm considering current RAM prices. Lowest price on PW for Kingston is $25/128MB

EDIT: Updated to include phoenixstar's post.

Actually, this is a pretty good deal for a 256MB DIMM, considering prices recently.

256MB PC-133 (SKU 775-471)

$49.99 - $5 instant = $44.99

Add something in the store for just over $5.
Use the $15 off of $50.

Out the door total of $35 for 256MB DIMM + Something Useful for $5.
Minus $10 MIR.
Total of $25 plus tax, with only $10 to wait for in MIR.

Not bad!

This looks like a good deal. BTW the ad says in-store only, thats why you can't find it online.

I can't seem to find the 15 off 50 coupon, can anyone PM or email it to me?

Thanks,

Orie

Weird. My OD has a limit of one stick of RAM per household because of a "nationwide RAM shortage." The even load your name and address in their computer when you buy it. I said nevermind.

Got a few PNY's over the last few weeks with Samsung chips... No problems.. All Kingston's may not have samsungs though. The 512MB stick of Kingston that I got from OMAX last week had winbond chips on it... still works well..

Bad news. Unless I have a different coupon than Richard98, it looks like the $15 off of $50 expired on the 19th of January. Richard98, did you check the expiration date on that coupon of yours?

Yes, This deal is slathered with a thick coat of foamy niceness...

However I have been unable to locate a printable $15 off $50 Coupon (or code for that matter.) :frown:

Kind of need that to taste the succulent sweetness of said foamy niceness....

<< Are the Samsung chips any good? >>

Samsung chips should work fine for normal use. They are not reputed to oc as well as other sticks (eg micron). This is not to say that all these sticks will be Samsung though.

Nice thing about buying through OD (vs. online retailer) is they should replace it if you get a bad stick or something.

Even if you have to back your FSB down a bit, its nice to have the extra headroom.

thanks for posting this deal - getting fewer and further between.

<< Nice deal, esp with the looming threat of RAM prices increasing. >>

It's not a threat, it is happening. Hynix & Micron are increasing prices. Samsung stopped dropping prices.

We contract to build cleanrooms for semiconductor, pharmaceutical, etc...

Before 2001, all of the companies mentioned above made crazy profits.
but last year, everything just came to a halt.

3 top Memory makers (Samsung, Micron, Hynix) slashed prices but not production until it was too late.
they started loosing massive amount of money for each wafers made.

All three companies put on hold their plans to build better FABs because of the financial situations.

Well, anyhow, to remedy the situation, all three companies are cutting production and increasing prices.
if they don't, they too will go down. (like toshiba, etc...)

So it's not a threat but it's actually happening.

Stopped by to check it out on the way home yesterday and picked up a 128 stick for a Burbie I am making for my mother-in-law.

Picked up a 128 meg stick of PC100 and was surprised to see it had infineon chips. Great deal for $15 AR, might have to look at another 256 today for my own machine in progress. Infineon is supposed to OC well, isn't it?

Yeah the infineon should overclock well, however I got Samsung on the last 2 256MB sticks I picked up. I Have run one up to 140 haven't tried the other yet.

Stopped by tonight finally and picked up a 256 stick of PC133. Had to flex the box a little to see inside, but it is Infinon marked.
