Make sure you get the 1600mAh ones; they do have older less capacity ones at about the same price!

I've heard good things about Sanyo NiMH's. Here is a link to a site for four Sanyo's for $11. Shipping is $5 regardless of quantity, well almost regardless of quantity. If a purchase if over $60, there is a 10% discount. The site also offers Sanyo AAA NiMH's for $3 ea. So this seems to be a slightly better deal than Onvia's if one is considering several sets or wants some AAA's also.

I put together an order for 16 AA's and 8 AAA's. With shipping it totals to $67.20

Please let me know if you think this is a good deal, and if you think these batteries are what they're hyped up to be. The site is a little bit X-10ish, i.e., a little bit on the "best thing since sliced bread" side. I've read others praise the Sanyo batteries though, and want to be sure before I press the order button. Thanks.

Yes it is a good deal. I have made multiple purchases from guy and he is reliable. There are no better batterues made at this time. I also bought a couple of his chargers--They work OK but seem cheaply built.

btw Sanyo makes most of the 1600mah batteries, many are relabled.

Somewhat OT questions:

Everyone talks about how good NiMHs are in high drain applications like digicams, but what about lower drain applications like portable radios, mp3 players, and FRS walkie-talkies? How do they compair to alkeline rechargables?

One other question, does anyone know how long nimhs last, between charges, compaired to regular (non-rechargable) batteries? I guess this is the same question as asking what is the mah rating of typical non-rechargable batteries?

I've bought the Sanyo NiMH AA's at Fry's and their regular price is 5.99/pair. They are also rated at 1600 mA. The AAA's are also 5.99 a pair and and I think they are rated at 700 mA. These are excellent batteries by the way.

I have the rechargeable alkalines as well as the NiMH with the difference being the NiMH are for high drain devices as you know, but they will lose their charge after around 60 days if not used. NiCad lose their charge after 30 days. NiMH take 8 hours to charge with my charger and the alkalines charge in 3-4 hours. The rechargeable alkalines won't lose their charge over any appreciable time but they are lousy for high drain devices such as digital cameras, but work well in CD players and flashlights.

Could someone point me to an online site that has the best deal for the maha 204 charger (i think that's considered the best one) and at least 4 AA and at least 4 AAA rechargables (at least the 1600 or higher)? thanks

lobster7..thanks for the info. i'm going to the local walmart today which is just down the street and see what they have there and the prices. If those AA batteries are 1300 isn't that kinda low? seems like most people are recommending the 1600...or maybe the 1550.

I don't know if this is the healthiest charger for your NiMH batteries, but it sure is the fastest one I've seen:

RadioShack 1-hour Charger (1.7 for NiMH)

I use this charger for my Kodak DC280. It makes the batteries pretty hot, but not hot enough that you can't touch them. I've charged the batteries more than 20 times each and they still seem to last just as long as before.

I used Kodak 1450mah AA batteries and Sanyo 1600mah's.
