While certainly not "hot" I'd say $1.59 for a brand name disk isn't too horrible. Maxells make very reliable media.

I guess it depends on how good Maxell's are. Are they rebadge anything elses? If they're super high quality $1.60 each isn't unreasonable.

I just received these from compgeeks here and they are 2x Maxells. You can get 25 delivered for $34 - $3.40 (coupon available) + $6 shipping = $36.60 or $1.46 each. If you buy 2 cakeboxes, they will give you the second one for $29 and shipping is $7 for both, so for 50 they would be $1.33 which is really pretty good, and you don't have to break the bank to do it.

When I ordered it, it was 2x media for the same price. I don't know if they made a mistake or what, but on my Pioneer 105, Nero identifies them as Maxell 2x media.

EDIT - when I logged in and went to my order, the line on the order listed DVD-R 2x media that now links to the "1x" media. I don't know if the geeks are playing it safe, or changed media.

I bought a 5 pack of Maxell media from Staples when ordering my Cendyne (Pioneer DV-R 105) and it worked very well.
but this says "Unbranded"?... Does anyone know what Unbranded really means? Is it genuine Maxell media without the
labels? just curious..
