WARM??? Pacific Digital 40x16x46 CD-RW for $39.99 AR + tax @ FRYS

Fry's has the Pacific Digital 40x16x48 CDRW for 79.99-40 MIR = 39.99 + tax

I already have one of these drives - works great!!!
Folks say they are usually rebadged LiteOns and can be upgraded via firmware flash to 48x.
I haven't tried that yet.

I just got one - no prior experience with Fry's rebate.

Any body know how good/bad Fry's is ? The rebate center is in Irvine,CA.

The 40$ mail in rebate is valid from 7/24/02 - 8/13/02

Fry's rebates are fairly dependable but slow as heck. Check your rebate info too. They like to offer a rebate that you have to send in within 3 days or less of purchase. Either that or it will be a rebate that ends on Monday after the weekend sale. Almost got bit by that a couple of times. Better check the model number on that also. Not all Pacific Digital drives are Lite-On. Look for the LTR at the begging of the Model #.
