Speaking of games, how do they function on a 'widescreen' monitor? Is the image just stretched, or is it correct aspect ration and the extra area is filled in with rendered space? Or maybe there's bars?

I currently have my desktop computer set up and running on a 57" widescreen HD, and games are awesome. Most games will only stretch when left to their own devices. A few games have built in widescreen compatibility, but the ones that havne't had built in compatibility can rather easily be tweaked in the registry. For example, Warcraft III (for me anyway) didn't have built in 16:9 resolutions, but I went into the registry and set the Horizontal Resolution and Vertical Resolution keys for the resolution of my screen, and now it displays it fine.

So I suppose the short answer is that they work great as long as you're willing to do a little work up front. Hope that's helpful!
