Seems pretty good for this card. Then again, you might want to wait till next gen cards come out in November. This price will probably go way down at that point.

If you can't wait, however, this might be your card.

FWIW, my experience with ClubIT (cpu, psu, various other odds and ends) has been great.

My advice would be to wait, i got mine for $539+40 MIR in march before they knew the 2900xt was a flop, when a card that actually can wipe the floor with the GTX comes out (hopefully the 9 series is really a step forward) then the prices will really drop.

I too am hopeful prices might start to creep down on these as November nears. And another thing that should help is Nvidia's nagging supply problem with these GPUs was recently solved.

They'll have to come down to $400 before I'll jump.

i find it odd that the g92 falls behind the g80 on Nv's line, @ first glance i'd guess that the 8700 is not as powerful as the 8800 or they would have given it a higher designation.

Why is it odd? It's no different than the G84 (8600GTS) falling well behind the older G71 (7900GTX) in Nvidia's line-up.

What is different than usual is Nvidia releasing its mainstream next-gen GPU before its high-end next-gen GPU. And the reason why? ATI's inability to show any challenge to Nvidia in any other sector than mainstream currently. Nvidia had no incentive to invest in a high-end refresh over the summer, nor a high-end next-gen launch now when they already own the performance crown by a wide margin (including profit margin) until at least Q108.

i guess you're right, but i always thought the g84 was a fluke, i doubt nv planned for it to be so much slower than g80. But seeing as they have no comp. ATM they really have no real reason to advance their hardware, though i didn't think they'd spend the whole year sitting on their hands bolstering the product line, i figured they'd be eager to stretch the performance gap with a new refresh, to put amd in a tight spot, but i guess NV isn't trying to undermine the insane profit margins they're seeing right now.

My 6600GT is holding up nicely so I think I'll wait and see how much this card is in 10 years.
