Why is this here? The regular price of the PSP Giga Pack is $299. If anything the best deal would be buying from Outpost.com or go to Fry's and get the Giga Pack w/ two games for $319:

Also, why would you want to downgrade the firmware? The latest firmware is 2.6 which has a number of enhancements for web browsing.

Last I read up on GTA, you need the new firmware (at least 2.0) to run it! So to answer your Q, yes...

I think there is a loader program that allows you to bypass the fireware upgrade.

or you can also try to swap trick, starting the psp up with a game that doesnt require an upgrade then quickly swap the umd to the gta umd.
