I had nothing but good experiences with CPG before they went bankrupt too, you have to be careful with rebates in general nowadays.

Wish it was 256mb and ~$30AR, I might've jumped on it then. Not really any point in having 512mb, you won't be pushing very high texture settings with 128-bit DDR2. Still a pretty good deal compared to what's out there right now anyways, but my $33 9600 GSO has spoiled me.

Despite having less memory bandwidth, the 4650 is definitely an improvement over the 7800gtx. Modern games make heavy use of shaders, and the 7800gtx is built on old tech, before the move to unified shaders in the Geforce 8/9 and Radeon HD cards. The 4650 uses budget ram compared to some other models, but the 320 stream processors still make it a powerful mid-range card. I'd expect probably a 2x performance increase in today's games over the 7800gtx.

3850 for $10 more, and it's quite a bit of improvement over 4650/4670. Though much bigger rebate, and questionable rebate house (but which rebate center isn't these days?). Still the best thing about 4650/4670 series is the low power consumption and no need for external power source. Great for those with weaker power supply, generally the HP/Dell OEM machines.

i'd probably get the 3850 over a 4650 most times. the 4650s real advantages are lower power, and its got 7.1 lpcm.

the 3850 and 4650 are both 55nm, so the 3850 actually doesnt use tha tmucn more (i think the main reasons are it has more memory chips and a ringbus)

Wow you dont know what you are talking about. The 7800GTX is not even as powerful as the 8600GT. The 4650 is nearly on par with the 8800GTS (G80). There is a HUGE difference there. Obviously you didn't read ANY reviews before you said that.
