That's a great deal, I just bought one for my Parents, and it's a beautiful TV.

Yes, their return policy is really that good, includes shipping.

And you can return it to a store, if you have one near by.

This has not been on their site for the past 1.5-2 weeks, but it showed up this morning and I jumped on it. For those interested in it, Costco seems like the way to go. I bought another brand 37" that I will probably take back now. CostoCo service desk told me I have YEARS to take it back!

I heard that Costco's return policy is being amended for electronics. No returns after something like 6 months-retroactive.

I just got one of these earlier this week and it's absolutely gorgeous as a PC/gaming display. SDTV is acceptable and DVD through a normal set top player isn't too bad. Have yet to try HDTV content or DVD through PC with a good scaler. Been too busy playing Oblivion on this thing.

I was told computers only were 6 months, the actual service desk told me when I asked about return policy on the 37" LCD Visi that I bought their response was 3 years although they had seen 4 at managers descretion!

I like what I hear...I'd be buying this TV as a PC gaming monitor as well (in addition to DVD and HDTV) - primarily for GR:AW. Question, isn't 37'' just too big as a gaming monitor? How far away do you have to sit from it? Big screen for your eyes to be darting around! Your opinion is welcome...thanks!

And honestly, you can buy online, wait 3 years and return a TV to a local costco and get your money back? Seems unbelievable!

No such thing as too big when it comes to gaming displays.

I've been sitting about 4ft away for gaming and I haven't experienced any eyestrain from having to look around. Desktop usage like browsing the web and reading text is quite usable at 3-4ft as well. My eyesight is kind of poor so I tend to move up closer when not gaming. SDTV content I don't really find acceptable until about 7-8ft away.

Yes you can return online purchases to any local Costco and IIRC they even refund the shipping.

Bullhonkie - you using VGA or HDMI???

It's available at target.com now for $1799. $300 more than costco - obviously makes sense to pay the membership fee and buy it there.

If you cancel a membership can you then still return a product?

I'm using a DVI to HDMI cable. Haven't tried VGA at all. I suppose I should just to make sure the port even works.

I really couldn't tell much, actually any, difference between the VGA and DVI connections with the Sceptre. They both look equally amazing. Since my X800 has one DVI, I have no choice but to use the VGA for now anyway. I've also been playing Oblivion on the X37 and couldn't stand the one time when I had to play it on my Dell 20" LCD. Also spent 10 hours yesterday working on a project (database coding) together with a buddy on the X37. Was really nice being able to sit back comfortably and both of us viewing the code/working together.

As far as the Westinghouse, after all the reading I did (2500 posts in avsforum), I went with the Sceptre. Couple reasons, one was there are some severe problems with the Westy, but are supposed to be fixed in the new version (not sure if they were?). Also the fact that I would probably have to purchase it from Best Buy, and I don't have to get into that. The Westy has no ATSC/QAM/NTSC tuners, it's strictly a monitor. To top it off, Costco offers a lifetime return policy, so if there is ever a problem you can easily return without any questions asked.

Anyone intrested can read more of my impresions in my review.

What problems did the Westinghouse have?

I still need to buy a gift for my dad's 50th birthday - and a plasma/lcdtv definetly comes to mind - even my sister suggested it. He hasn't had a new TV since about 92 when we bought a 1990 Panasonic 19" TV (yes we still have that and it is used lol)...How are the prices of the 42" models looking lately? I'm guessing the Westinghouse and Sceptre would lead the field in terms of pricing on those as well...

Does anyone know if this is available for pickup as well or online only? I'm really loving the return policy - considering this TV would put me in somewhat of a small hole financially, if something better came along a year from now and I was able to return this in favor that I say that's pretty incredible if it's true...

I was sceptical but my brother just got this TV and its is really nice. Screen res is 1920x1080. Windows looks very crisp and the xbox 360 looked great.

The only we had that was 1080p was some of the HD windows media you can download online.

I bought one of these a month ago and it arrived all beat to ******. From the look of the packing materials, UPS dropped the thing on its side and the picture was bad. I'm sure it's a great TV for the money if you're lucky enough to have yours arrive intact, but don't throw away that packing material until have have put it through your paces. Luckily, Costco's return policy rocks, I returned it to my local store and bought a 37" Philips from the store and have been very happy with it. The Philips also doesn't have the Engrish menus that the Sceptre did, plus it has a bunch of cool features. I'm not sure if the 1080 bit would have made that big of a difference with me.

30 seconds of looking...

"I'm also wondering about corner bleeding on the new Westys (37" and 42"), but just as importantly, I wonder if the new 37" corrects the lockup issues. My guess is no on the lockup issue, since the 42" also suffers from this problem. The good news is that people so far are not complaining about corner bleeding with the 42". The other issue I'd like to see eliminated is the uneven illumination seen on some of the old LVM-37w1 sets. ie. Some people have a brighter left side of the screen compared to the right side. That's just bad QA in my opinion, and unacceptable."
