You guys do realize these 1080P sets DON'T accept a 1080P signal natively?!
In fact, it takes a 480P, 720P, 1080i signal and UPCONVERTS it to 1080P, but it cannot accept a 1080P signal.
This means if you plan on buying PS3, HD-DVD Player or Bluray Player.. the set is gonna downconvert the signal back to 1080i than upconvert again to 1080P. In order to get the best picture, you should always try to feed a set its native resolution to avoid conversions as it causes loss of picture quality in the process and in the instance of these "so-called 1080P sets", they do the conversion TWICE.
Snake oil marketing if you ask me. Not to say these sets to display a beautiful picture, but just be aware these sets are TRUE 1080P sets like the 720P sets on the market right now that natively accept 720P signals without any conversions.
Of course this is just an FYI not a threadcrap.
The first 1080P sets that accept a 1080P signal natively and compressed are gonna be released within a few weeks, though at a premium. Sets are expected to retail for around $3K and up for the first-gen.
