And here!

I personally have these headphones and they're great! Bought them at $80 though. Not very comfortable and your ears will be sweating, but i heard those problems can be countered by changing the earpads to beyerdynamic 250 velour pads. Bass is great!
Note: these are closed headphones.

The Grados are an "open" design. These are "closed" Apples to oranges.

The Sonys are more expensive especially with changing the ear pads.

Both should be very good headphones.

if a headphone is the open design like the Grados does that mean that everyone around you will be able to hear what you're listening to?

V6 are closed, great for taking to the library. They are also much more comfortable and are better gaming headphones.

these still appear somewhat bulky and only for home use----library use would be difficult

how do the v6s compare to the 7506s?

nm .. found a post in the reviews.

<< The Sony MDR-V6 and the Sony MDR-7506 are the same thing. The only difference is the name and the fact that the 7506 has a gold plug while the V6 does not. However, the price difference is pretty big as the 7506 cost a lot more for some dumb reason (it's Sony!). They both look and sound the same other than that >>

btw the 7506s can be had from musiciansfriend.com for 75(use the $25 off coupon) plus reasonable shipping

From reading the all the headphone forums, no one likes the new lines of phones but swear by the v6s and 7506.

Thanks!

These are by far the best Headphones I've ever used. I've owned two pairs, using one of them right now. They're very durable, and have the a very precise sound. These things are hard enough to find new, let alone for such a good price.

The folding design on these is pretty nice. collapsed they're about the size smushed grapefruit. I've been a big fan of large over-ear closed headphones for a couple of years and the quality of the sound they provide more than makes up for the gain in bulk over a pair of earbuds.

I just ordered a set, with christmas coming up this week though I'd imagine I won't get them until the following week but I can hope they are fast =) Bump for the killer deal on some awesome headgear, i should make my downstairs neighbors pay half on these bad boys just so they can sleep better at night without the quake sound effects

This place seems to have the best prices on all their headphones.

I ordered the Sony MDR-NC10 noise canceling headphones and they were at least $20-$60 cheaper than any other retailer.

Now if they just had some coupons.

I have used my pair of V6's for about 12 years now....Never a problem, superior sound, wouldn't trade them for anything! I bought them for about $149 when they first came on the market, and I consider this to be an extremely good deal, at $67 shipped!

Can you provide a link for beyerdynamic pads? The earpads on mine are becoming quite worn, and I'd much rather replace them than the 'phones...

From what i've heard, the only way you can get them is directly from beyerdynamic. I forgot the phone # but its $22 shipped. Try beyerdynamic's website

didn't they discontinue the v6's a few years ago? they have the v600 now.

I used to have the v6. gave it to someone. replaced with v600. seem the same. v6 had regular plug, v600 has gold plug. that seems to be about the only difference.

Sony attempted to replace the v6 with the v600 but it was a miserable failure as people everywhere have agreed, the v600 sucks. So Sony learned their lesson and still make the v6. You might by confusing the 7506, which is identical to the v6 except for gold plug and price.

The V600 was not the successor to the V6, as far as comparisons are concerned. Just about every review agrees the V6 is more than just superior to the V600. The 7506 is almost identical to the V6 in many ways, especially audio reproduction.

My V6 is about 13 years old. A few months ago I bought the pads from Beyer Dynamic, which fit perfectly and are more comfy than the stock pads (be sure to order velour pads for DT250, not the "soft leather" style). But even then, the V6 with stock pads are more comfy than the Grados over a long period of wearing them, imho.

I actually had to call Beyer Dynamic to place my order for new pads. They screwed up on the shipping address and didn't do a damn thing after getting my pads back, so I had to call them and verify my order was returned to their warehouse before they would fix their error and ship it again. I'm sure it was an isolated incident, but just a warning to stay on top of them, just in case...

You can't buy a better set of headphones at this price. I might just grab a second pair and put them in storage for that fateful day that my current cans may die...

Wow! These are great headphones. I bought 2 pairs last year, love em. This is a steal, grab them while you can. They don't make them anymore (do they?). Same phones that many radio dj's use, Howard Stern, etc...

The 7506s are almost EXACTLY (they are the same headphone) like the mdr-v6 except for a goldplated mini-plug, the l and r indicators are different colors, and stickers are different.

I don't really believe spending more to get them will be worth it.
