MicroCenter has 4X DVD+R and -R's for .69c a Disc @ Quanity 100, if you purhcase them in 25 counts they are 19.99 a spindle. They are Platinum Grade "A" disc. You can see them on their advertised specials page of their site. I personally burn only Memorex Media @ 8x but these seem like a good deal anyways.

The local Microcenter where I live in Duluth has now got over 50 packs of 25 of +R and -R in stock. I do not recommend the +R's if you are looking to burn them @ 8x. I have a Plextor 8x Burner which will normally burn about any good +R media @ 8x but these only show up as 4x. I asked the manager today about it as I am good friends with him and he laughed and said he had the same problem lol. They are good I would assume for 4x but they definitely suck if you need them to burn @ 8x.

It's also the same as the Imations 4x DVD+R that are selling at office depot for $75 per 100 after coupons, delivery and tax. I purchased those, and I have burnt 2 discs so far with one error attributed to the software and the second was perfect. Both play on my newer DVD player, but niether play on my older Toshiba 5109. The toshiba will play Ritek G03 DVD-R discs. I'm sure it's a media compatibility issue. EDIT:...they both burned at 8x on my TDK (Plextor 708a rebadged).Originally posted by: TheRealDeal IMHO TDK is a top notch brand. I haven't had any coasters and video quality is superb. Not sure if your drive supports this, i'm kinda new to this DVD stuff. On some drives, you can do whats called bitsetting. When you burn a +R disc, you tell it put the code in for a DVD-ROM. This code is read by all DVD players, some don't support +R and others won't support it. By bitsetting the disc to DVD-ROM, it thinks it's a regular pressed DVD. I've heard this works rather well, if you can get your drive to do it.
BTW, I bought some of those -R and +R Platinum disc's from Microcenter today. Did a test shrink on Escaflowne-The Movie and it burned perfectly. This is on a Lite-On 851S. No bitsetting for me yet, unfortunately. I did notice that the +R discs are much less compatible than the -R though. I picked up both to just do some testing, etc. Guess I'll use the +R's for data and the -R's for movies right now.

Also, these any good, lots of coasters or what? (I imagine TDK wouldn't put their label on some crappy disc.)

That's strange about the DVD+R's being less compatible than the DVD-R's. The DVD+RW Format Comparison Page claims DVD+R is more compatible than DVD-R's.Originally posted by: NuKe9 Not sure if your drive supports this, i'm kinda new to this DVD stuff.
