not bad if it's retail, but mwave is offering them just as cheap if not cheaper. Anyone buy from gogocity? how are they. Thinking of upgrading and selling my basically new 60gb maxtor d740+ ATA-133....damn, going to do it, even though I only have about half it filled. Want some 8mb buffer, 120gig goodness....

edit: and are these drive really msrp'ing at $499? Sound like BS to me....

I considered buying something from GoGoCity. Then I checked Reseller Ratings. They've got some of the worst feedback I've ever seen there. I've never ordered from them, and now I never will.

Pardon my French (I am half French, actually) - but gogocity.com was dubbed GoGoShitty by one of my friends after an unpleasant experience. He had ordered something (either some hard drive or possibly a GBA or palmpilot, don't recall) and they charged him but it was backordered, even though the site did not say that it was. He eventually canceled the order (like three weeks later) and they refunded him, but that was highly unprofessional of them. I highly recommend that you keep away from gogosh...city.

why deal with the headache at gogocity?
newegg's got them for 234+7sh

if you add up s/h from gogocity... it comes out much higher than newegg's price.

so why bother with troublesome vendor when you got newegg?

gosh... i sound like newegg's rep or something.
then again... i did receive a pen and a shirt from them for free.

if you actual think RETAIL box really means anything -- the deal below is not for you retail box is just that -- a box and a cable and maybe drive rails. same hdd and same warrenty.

find the dell 10% off coupon at tech bargains
go to the dell home store add the 120gb w/8mb cache OEM for $226.95
free shipping. total = ~$204 SHIPPED for OEM

have fun.

I thought there was some kind of difference in the warranty of OEM stuff? Seems like I remember hearing something like that, maybe that you couldn't get warranty service from the manufacturer and had to go through the company that sold you the drive, which could be iffy...although in Dell's case, probably would be ok.

Edit: Just checked PriceWatch, Newegg lists drive for $217 now

Edit Edit: Dell states the drive is retail under details

Don't forget you can save another 2% through eb@tes when purchasing this at Dell. It's a retail packag according to Dell's descriptions.

Final cost: ~$200.18 shipped. Pay a extra mere $9.00 for 2nd business day delivery.

Why not get 2 80 GB drives from Best Buy (and PM Circuit City) for $75 after rebate? That's 160 GB for only $150 Of course you don't get the 8MB buffer, and you'll need 2 addresses to send the BB rebate to.

The WD 120gb w/ 8mb buffer went up in price at dell. The price after 15% off is now $215. However, I did find a dell branded hd that appears to be the same thing for $199. Link, It says the 120gb drive has an 8mb cache. As I know of no other hd that has an 8mb cache other than the wd special edition, then I assume that this dell hd is in fact the wd se. I ordered it, so I will update when i get the hard drive.

in general afaik, OEM HDD's have a 1 year warranty, while retails have 3year, come with an ATA cable. Not too much of a difference, but I usually try and go retail: 3 + 1 (Amex) should be enough to outlast anything.

Because the 8MB buffer rocks !

It makes a significant difference (I have the 100GB w/8MB buffer).

Oh, sweet! How long it the warranty? I might jump on this one, because I want WD 120GB 8MB cache soooo bad. And it's in Home section meaning no tax on my order, plus I get 2% back from Ebates and 1.5% back from Paypal. Let us know what you get.

Seems like a good deal. I placed an order as well. I really hope the extra price of the 8MB buffer turns out to be worth it. It makes for a hefty credit card bill, especially after seeing the $50 80GB 7200RPM hard drives deals.

With 10% off in home, no tax and free shipping (total over $99) in the home section, comes out to around the same price that Gateway was offering with a $50 coupon a few weeks back. Throw in Ebates for 2% extra, as well, for kicks. That coupon expires on Wednesday, I think.

I just recieved my dell branded drive. It is oem and did not come with anything but the drive. It is the WD special edition w/ 8mb cache. For once, I took a gamble and it paid off. Also, I chose the cheapest shipping method yet they sent it fedex 2day. Didn't charge me any extra either, which is nice as if I had selected it I would have been charged $15 or something like that. Not too bad, and I will never hesitate to order from dell in the future.

I ordered a real WD HD 8MB cache from Dell's home section for under $179 shipped, should be getting it soon, though it's on backorder. This deal is over, BTW.

dell had a deal for the 10% and the 15% off that ended yesterday i think, brought this drive down to 179 free shipping. I wonder if there is another 15% floating around that can be stacked with that 10% still.

I ordered one from dell as well, total was $173 shipped. If the deal comes back around a second time in some form I may grab another. Paying more than $200 for an IDE hard drive would be... well... weird. Them be SCSI prices!
