I ordered a set of the z560's for my Dad's b-day...looks like they won't be here by the 7th . I hate it when this crap happens even though I wait a week in advance!

I called EMSComputing yesterday and they said that they were moving offices. And perhaps just customer support facilities. I did not get the impression that they were restructuring their company.

In any case, I am in the process of exchanging a $400+ lcd monitor and the original poster of this thread scared beegeezus out of me when I read that message. I certainly hope that EMS is not restructuring and just moving customer support offices (which does occur with companies). Moreover, I do know that they were swamped with orders on their free shipping promotion. This may be the cause for the shipping delays.

Damn I just ordered a 955DF and an SX830 from them for $245 last night w/ free shipping. I only had option to pay by Personal Check/Money Order/Company Check. Hopefully they'll get their sh!t straight and have this stuff shipped soon :frown:

Darn this deal, (SX830 for $59.00 shipped), thats good.
And at a time that I really need one, not just another hot deal
to good to pass up for future use.
Ordered Sat. 7-26. Still no tracking # for it yet.
HHHHmmmmmmm, well it is free shipping can't complain if it takes 7-10
days. Then I find this thread, thats bad. And as shurato said,
"Their inventory system is not accurate", as the case inventory
seem to change from 680 to 640 in 2 days time, (not many for this deal).
But after reading yellowperil's post, thats good, I'll wait till Mon. or
Tues., and hope for the best.

Ordered an SX-830 last Saturday. Reseller ratings are horrendous because this company has serious communications problems- nobody complained of being ripped off. Hang in there. $59/shipped is worth the wait for me.

I hear that EMS just merged with Cyberwings so we should be fine!

I ordered from EMS a year ago. They had excellent service and were pretty quick, but that was a year ago and this is now.

I'm still pissed off that they charged all of our credit cards before they're shipping. Seems like they're racking up all this money at once, and going somewhere with it... It definitely reminds me of the John Hennessey fiasco. Click here to read

Basically, John Hennessey owned a company who would take a stock Dodge Viper and convert it into a 1100 horsepower monster, for a good sum of money. When he found out he was dwindling near debt, he began to sell parts of customer's cars to try and make up for his losses.

So, relating this back to EMS, charging our cards without actually shipping the merchandise is basically what Hennessey did...take our money without any promise of a return product. Check this thread and see how many users on Anandtech ALONE have had their cards charged without ANY notice of shipment. Now multiply that by 100 or so, and you'll get how many orders in the world were placed, without shipment. I'd say they'd have a a good sum of money right there. I'd like to see this resolved soon, or maybe a superior from EMS can shed some light on this (for EMS's sake) before this all goes down in flames.

I personally ordered the 2nd day of the free shipping notice, and have not received word and have no tracking number. It's been about a good week now and nothing.

I'm trying to be patient as I want these speakers badly, but I will call my credit card company and take care of this if they do not fullfill their side of the deal.

Well I live in NYC and I calculated the transit time.

If it was shipped on Monday I would receive on Thursday.
If it was shipped on Tuesday I would receive on Friday (which I still didn't)
If it was shipped on Wed I would receive on Monday (hoping to get it)

If they didn't ship it this week then its back to square one.
If it... Thursday
If it...Friday

kinda sad.

Most Delaware based CC companies have taken bankruptcies OUT of their customer agreement as late as last year. I would be shocked if someone here has had a recent win against a bankrupt company. If you do, please let me know what credit card company it is. Most user agreements specifically have a no bankruptcy coverage clause. Hopefully yours doesn't.

im thinking that EMS moving combined with the anandtech effect (due to the free shipping deal), really swamped them and caused them to be more behind schedule than they already are. since a few of you have had your stuff resolved already (i.e. quailbert), it looks like theyre getting their act together (and it seems from some of your comments that they arent that bad of a company). im gonna wait till next week for my order before i start worrying.

btw, i noticed that the price for z-560s are now about $170 total (w/shipping), whereas they were $122 shipped before.

I ordered an Antec 1080B case from them about 6 weeks ago. They sent me an email a few days later saying they were "restructuring their backend ordering system"....anyway, I kept emailing them telling them how unsatisfied I was, as the order date kept being pushed back. But, it did come (finally) after about 2 weeks or so. They will really have to improve on service before I order from them again. But the point is, the case DID come. It wasn't a rip-off.

I'm not real sure about EMS Computing's financial status- but the scenario sounds similar to an outfit out in Kansas called Paragon Technology that folded last year. I had ordered from them with satisfaction, but when things started to unravel I got nervous because my order was being delayed. I finally had the good fortune of getting a clueless employee on the phone who hadn't been indoctrinated into their little game. I mentioned the name of one of the owners to him and said that she had approved my order and it must be shipped immediately. This must of had an effect, because I got my order two days later. It was an Athlon 950, (I had ordered an 850!), and it came with no paperwork. I was happy about that, and when they went out of business a week later, I was really relieved that I didn't get ripped off.

I agree that they were swamped with orders, but no "reputable" company would schedule a free shipping promotion for the same timeframe as a move/restructure/whatever that they are going through. I do think they are trying to fill orders, or they wouldn't have shipped ANY orders. I will give them a few more days before I cancel my order and notify my credit card company of the matter. I am just glad I didn't order anything I actually needed, and didn't get greedy ordering thousands of dollars worth of stuff.

I just like to have a little faith in people. I ordered z560 speakers. I'm a poor college student that pondered for weeks whether I should shell out a mere $122 bucks for a kickass sound system. $122 might not sound like a lot of money to some of you working people that get paid over 50k a year, but for now, the $122, to me, means a world of difference. Why don't we just give the EMS computing guys some faith. They have a poor customer service because, like some of you said, it's a small company and it might be overwhelming to satisfy tons of people ordering from all over the states. And maybe, because they were getting so many orders they felt that they had to move that week or else the office would burst or something. They charged CCs maybe because they wanted to keep customers instead of losing them due to overwhelmed shipments. If I was doing a business, I would do the same. It's only smart, maybe not right, to charge items first so they can guarantee customers' stay with the orders. I don't think they would've charged people if they were gonna file a bankrupcy or not ship products. Maybe a lot of you ordered stuff that was urgent, please accept my sympathy, but I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt and trust them for a week or two. Like I said, I'm a poor college student, and I'd be the first one to be scared of the $122 I might lose. But let's keep our faith, shall we?
