Thanks for the heads-up. I bought a router from them about 8 months ago. So far nothing wrong, but I will never buy anything from Tigerdirect.com. Nothing better happen to my account since I used a debit....:disgust: Anyways, thanks again!

Note to all this does not apply to Debit cards even if it says Visa on the front. NEVER NEVER NEVER use your Debit card online for anything period. You have no protection and if they get into your checking account getting your money back will be a bit*h at best...

That may be true for your debit card, but if that's the case, you should consider finding a better bank to do business with. I know mine, First Union, has acceptable fraudulant purchase protection, and I have NO problems or qualms about using my card online.

Of course, not shopping at questionable or outright known bad online retailers helps. ;p

Yes, I shall help here too. Tiger Direct is a definite no go. Goverment had them in a clutch but they let them go and they continue scamming. Pest Offence, no doubt.

This is another reason why you should always use single-use CC numbers when buying things online. After TigerDirect charges the CC number for the product you buy, it doesn't matter if they sell it to an affiliate or hand it to someone on the street. That number cannot be re-used so you don't have to worry about future unauthorized charges or hassles getting refunds from your bank.

Well at least i used AMEX Blue and they already credited my account for the two charges of 61.08 each. The fraud dept seemed to already know about this like a common occurence. I'm just pissed that a company would pull a stunt like that.......i thought i was saving money on my IBM wireless card.....Just wanted to spread the word since a lot of "deals" come from these guys

I've placed a few orders from Tigerdirect in the fast few months, and I also noticed a charge for the same amount from AMR Long Distance. And I clicked on the NO button.
I disputed this with my bank and have got back my money.

Places to complain:

1. FTC (www.ftc.gov)
2. BBB (www.bbb.org)
3. Florida State Attorney General and maybe also your state's.

I had the same thing but I actually say yes when they asked if I want free LD for one months. So I used the free thing for like 15 days (it's 30 days free but I didn't bother to use it till the very last day). So I called them up and cancel it. And then, 1 months later, I got my visa bill showing that there is the $61, and the good thing is that they put their phone number on the visa bill and I called them right up and they credited the money right away.

I can back that up, I have been charged by AMR and every 3 months or so I get charged again and I have never heard of them. But, I have never ordered from Tigerdirect. The only stores I buy from online are gamestop.com, amazon.com, newegg.com, and staples.com. I have contacted my CC company and asked them if they could some how block that company from charging me and they said no, so I have to fight the charge whenever I get one from them...

Are you sure you used AMEX Blue's PrivatePayments to get a single-use number? If you did and AMR still managed to twice charge $61.08 to your account, it suggests there's something wrong with AMEX' system. That would mean your number was effectively used 3 times: once by TD for whatever you bought and twice by AMR for their bogus charges.

i didn't use a one-time number.....i just had the number changed yesterday though so no more charges from those idiots when they try....and they will try again next month. I just said I at least used amex blue for the supposed online fraud protection....now to see if they do credit it

You are judged by the company you keep.

It would appear that Tiger Direct has chosen poorly.

Perhaps if there is enough noise and fallout over this issue,
other merchants who are in bed with bad actors will
get the message and stop treating their customers like
masochistic playthings.

So are you guys saying that even people that select "opt out" on the free phone card crap are getting their CC sold and have the monthly charge!? That's ridiculous! . . . . Isn't that highly illegal if you specifically select "opt out" .... any lawyers on this forum, class action suit for all those who got scammed.

I've never bought from them before but I see "deals" from Tigerdirect often. This SUX!

I opted out......appears that a lot of people have and it still happened.....they'll claim we didnt opt out or a computer glitch did it. Wouldnt mind a class action, but i doubt it would make it far.......I'm suprised this crap with tigerdirect hasnt come out before on the board

I'm surprised that this is the first I've heard of this, too. I've posted a few of their deals here and I have ordered from them myself (lucky so far, I guess). No more orders or posts for me, though. I'm convinced.

Good advice Arcas. I use Discover Card's one-time CC system. This is a free service. Just click on the icon whenever I get into an order form and it auto fills it with a one time number that only that company can use. I never give out my original credit card number over the net.

Thanks for the heads up. If I ever order anything from TigerDirect (don't THINK I have in the past), they will get a one time use credit card number with a limit equal to my order that expires in two months, and a spamgourmet email address allowing up to 5 emails to contact me with.

Question for those that were charged via AMR

Are you absolutely positive you clicked the opt-out button to deny the free trial?

I see the Florida BBB has an address in Naperville IL. I'm thinking about checking it out this weekend. Try and see if I can talk to any Tiger Direct employees.

BTW: Is it just me or does anyone else think the mob has gone high tech?

If the debit card has a Visa or M/C logo, it's covered under their fraud umbrella..

this sucks though, because today or in the next couple of days I was gonna order this Toshiba 2GB PCCard hard drive for $99 from them.

hmm....so, what places would pricematch against them...places that actually might have that toshiba drive?

and after my purchase, i close the number.
