I have read all these posts and the VP says "We have been running this program since Q4 2001. We have had just a few complaints & taken care of each one". Just these posts alone constitute more than a few complaints. What about all the others that aren't involved with this forum board? I think these guys are full of sh1t. What constitutes a few? Several hundred, several thousand? Maybe it is the people's responsibilty to read a little more carefully, but the way this appears to be set up is that it defaults to Tigerdirect and now it is the responsibility of an knowing/unknowing consumer to straighten it out. It's kind of like the rebate system. The rebate companies know a certain amount of people will forget and not send it in. Same thing here. They are counting on a certain number of people to forget or not even realize they have signed up, and boom, here a bill for 61.00 Forget about the people that are claiming they never clicked on the free phone card button, that definitely is illegal. These guys appear to be shady people at best and crooks at the worst.

A prime example of brutal marketing tactics..

Definately one of the worst companies in the industry. If not ever..

Any monies they should spend on support/service they spend on those bullsh!t catalohs.

Funny how brilloboy has 69 posts.. I wonder what other threads he's posted in...

[EDIT]
Ha! I did a little searching.. Seems he likes to pimp items for Tiger.. BAD member.. BAD!

Seems so nice..
Why wouldn't he love Tiger?

What a loser...

Vic Prez of bullshiznit is more like it..

I wonder how Tiger got the subject title changed? Threat of a lawsuit maybe?

VP - Business Development:
I would urge each of you to place a test order on Tiger's web site, where you will see the offer & all of the details for the promotion. Nothing is hidden.

I do not fear at all to say you guys are SCAMMERS, and I can prove that.

After my experiences with egghead, I make screenshots from each page I go through, with every vendor. This helped me PROVE that you were scamming people in regards of the Gateway PC's.

So I have NO DOUBT at all that you are doing the EXACT same trick (changing the website to eliminate any trace of wrongdoing) here. It is a matter of management style and responsibility, and that hasn't changed as we see now.

Nowhere in your message do you apologize for these scamming tactics, no, you even have the rudeness to say that you did it all right and basically it is the customer who approved everything.

This is again in direct contrast to people's experiences with your website and services.

After having dealt with your customer "service" and some "managers" there, I can again strongly warn ANYBODY from ever doing business with you.

Your last statement here "Again - Tiger at no time added this service to anyone's order without their full consent." basically says that the many people who say otherwise are liars.

Instead of admitting a mistake or an error, you guys have the arrogance to blame THEM.

I really hope the investigation will bring you to the knees.

I don't think Tiger gets it. It does not matter if they technically followed the law. It was a totally scummy tactic and it has pissed people off.
Tiger was already well known as a company that lies and cheats. Some people were still willing to chance it because of the prices, but now I think Tiger has lost everyone. I will never buy from them again. I sent them an e-mail telling them what I think. We need to do everything we can to bring this comany down.

You are just wasting your time sending tigerdirect an email.
They must have a catchall that throws all email in the trash, so they don't have to read it.
Couple months ago, I tried e-mailing them to warn that someone elses credit info was showing for my login.
I sent email's to all the possible choices at Tigerdirect, and none were returned, and problem was never corrected.
Even today, my account shows up with some guy in Texas credit info.
Changed email address, and tried cancelling all my info, but they still keep spamming me.
These guys need to go down hard, and fast...........

This sort of "business practice" isn't new.

I'm having my credit card charges $45.97 every month for two years... Why? I bought a steam clearner off an infomercial, and they asked me if I wanted a long distance card to "enjoy great savings"... I said no -- but that didn't matter.

Now I've been getting charged FOR YEARS... I call them, they reverse the charges, then they charge again a few months later.... only starting in MAY their phones aren't working so I have to work through the bank toget the credits back onto my account.

I'd STAY FAR AWAY from any business ever rumored to participate in this scam... Its not worth it, there are LOTS of other places to get great deals. I use Pricewatch ...

You guys have to check this out. The BBB has a record with TigerDirect and it has some bad reviews. Check it out.

Better Business Bureau's report on TigerDirect

Based on BBB files, this company has an unsatisfactory record.
Specifically our files show a pattern of complaints alleging
dissatisfaction with product quality and performance, failure
to deliver promised goods or services, failure to eliminate
basic cause of complaints, misrepresentation in advertising and
marketing practices and a pattern of no response to customer
complaints brought to their attention by the Better Business
Bureau.

I never shopped from them before nor will I ever start shopping with them.

Brasscat, why dont you have your card number changed, it would be easier than reversing a charge every month

Congratulations to all. Your activism had the right effect.

I also had some bad experience from TigerDirect, but none with the CC and phone card thingy...however, I am weary now.

I bought a charger/sync from them for my palm...when i got it, the sync part works, but it doesn't charge. I called TD and they told me to call the manufacturer. After searching all over the place for their phone number, the manufacturer they said to return the item at point of purchase. I called TD and they told me they will send a new one to me right away and for me to send back the one that was not working...but they will charge me for the new one, but refund it as soon as i return the other one. To make a long story short, the new one didn't work either, I got charged for shipping of the new one and the bad one (told of $17.40). I called them up again and they said to do the same thing, I laughed and said, "Hell NO!...refund my money now and the shipping and then come and pick up this piece of crap you sold me"...(my gf always said I have a temper.) That was a month ago and I still have no refund nor a working charger/sync for my palm.

I hope TigerDirect comes crashing down.

Tiger has a marketing relationship with Phonelinx, a phone card company. every customer that places an order (either on-line or via the phone) is offered a "FREE" 15 day trial to use the phone card for their long distance.

Don't you think if we wanted a phone card we would be shopping for them? Why even have this sort of BS hassle in the first place. Especially when the offer is selected as yes by default.

Customers are told up front (either verbally or in writing) about all the conditions, fine print, etc.

Key word here being "fine" print. You are trying to hide the details of the "offer" behind fine print that you know most people will gloss over. Reall nice business practices there loser.

Customers that say yes, or accept the Free offer, are sent a welcome package by Tiger - again with all the info & details on how to cancel if they like. Tiger also sends the customer an email with the order info & how to cancel.

Based on the customers approval, Tiger then sends the customer info (name, address, cc info) to the phone card company.

The Phone card company then sends out the phone card directly to the customer, & after 15 days starts billing the customers.

Customers can cancel at any time with Phonelinx, or if they are having trouble can contact Tiger to assist them.

Nice way to welcome customers you have there. Obviously since people are not recognizing the charges etc there is deception here Capt Obvious. But hey customer satisfaction is old fashioned anyway right?

I would urge each of you to place a test order on Tiger's web site, where you will see the offer & all of the details for the promotion. Nothing is hidden.

Can we use "test money" to place a test order.

I would say fine print is a way of hiding something while squeeking it by legally. Sure, it may be technically legal, but is it the right thing to do to your customers? Hell no.

Customers that click "Yes" to the free offer & do not read all of the details are usually the ones that complain - but they can still cancel at any time.

Free means free. This is not free. It requires customers do something to have it for free. They have to take the time to cancel the plan after the "free" trial. If they don't they are charged. The pay for cancelling your "free" offer with their time.
