Warning: Lenovo thinkpad W520 + ssd's = Will NOT work!

If you are an owner of this lenovo laptop, then don't think of upgrading to ssd drive. It just won't work!

My bad luck led me to buying this laptop which I originally wanted to put my newly bought crucial M4 in it.

When the ssd is used, the laptop will just freeze, go BSOD, and do all sorts of stupid things! However, it is performing(the ssd) perfectly in other systems. I found this the hard way.

I updated the M4 firmware and haven't tried yet with the lenovo, but I don't think it will make a difference.

If somebody managed to get his ssd to work with this specific laptop, or found a workaround, please tell me.....I'm kinda of frustrated.

That's pretty harsh on Sheldon, isn't it? I think even he'd be able to get a laptop that comes with an SSD installed as an option to work with an SSD.

People at work are running W520s with M4s in them...

Put an Intel G2 in a friend's W520 four months ago, no issues since...

yep.. is true as the others have said.

I even see users running the Vertx 3's in those models. And if they're getting the picky-ass SF-2281 drives running on those machines?.. then there's surely something up with your config.

My brother's is has a M4 120GB...no issues. 60GB Vertex 3 here, again no issues.
