I just spoke to one of their reps who informed me that the Blue Card is not longer honoring PMing as of May 1st. Amex Gold and Platinum will continue doing this however. Also the policy is changing at that date to only allow a single PM per item, whereas now you can do it more than once.

I know this is a bummer. Feel free to call them if you need more details.

figures, i just applied for the student card, as a stepping stone to getting the regular Blue in a couple years. wonder what the difference between Blue and Blue Gold is?

Guess I'll be cutting up that card when I get it then. I don't need another card with 0 annual fee, 0% introductory offer and a average interest rate after that. The only thing that appealed to me about this card was the price matching feature and if that's going away, I have no need for it.

I will cancel my Blue on May 1st. I hope others do the same to show Amex what they have done. I have other cc's with better services when BVG goes away.

I just called, and the CSR told me that the program is in fact NOT ending on May 1 (I have Blue), but that the other restrictions would go into place then (1 PM per item, etc).

I told him I had read somewhere that the PMing was going to be available only on certain cards, and not Blue, and he said the program will still be in place and there are no plans to scrap it.

Seems like we need some more confirmation on this.

Also: I wouldn't really believe anything until Amex actually sends you something in the mail, since that's how they convey changes of service. I'm not sure the CSR's always know what's going on. (I'm not taking a side here -- I have no idea if it's ending or not. Just saying it seems, at best, unclear.)

Just got my card in yesterday, I only got it for the PM feature if it is going away, then so
is this card I really don't need it for anything else.

i just called amex blue customer service to ask if the rumors were true.

she typed some stuff on her computer, then came back and said, "i'm not showing that it's ending ... it's still here."

also, i got a "changes in terms" brochure in my last amex blue bill, and it didn't mention the best value guarantee ending. it just said that there will be a limit of 1 PM per product.

Yeah, we definitely killed the feature. But it's been good while it lasted.

Personally, I plan on making them pay the remainder of my $1000 over the next 30 +/- days. After May 1, I'll fork out my $135 for the Platinum Delta Skymiles card and continue my pricematching ways. I am, after all, addicted.

okay, i just checked my email and saw that i got the same message (that the best value guarantee is ending 5/1) ... so i called amex blue back. the woman said that she didn't see anything in her system about it ending. but she said the best way to check was to call the best value guarantee department (800/557-8317).

so i called the bvg department, and told him about the conflicting information. the guy then asked me to forward the email i received to him so he can see what i'm talking about bec he didn't have a clue.

so then i asked, okay, but is it ending or not?

to which he replied, "i don't know."

GREEEAAAAT customer service.

I have $3K on the card now, so far I've only price matched $22 on a motherboard I bought in december.

i intended to use it more, but got hooked on other features and just how easy it is to use for daily purchases, then pay in full later and pay no interest. Makes my old bank check card silly to use.

I guess I dont have too much to worry about. I'm sure I wont be able to get the Blue Gold myself, but I could under my father (big Amex user for nearly 15 years I believe)
