I just got this flyer on my latest Sprint PCS bill.
This flyer stated that Sprint will share your information (anything you can think of) with Sprint Family of Companies.
On its fine print, Sprint define Sprint Family of Companies as local, long distance, wireless, and directory divisions on Sprint Corp and joint-venture partners providing communications-related services.
Sprint may also disclose, share or permit access to your Customer Information on a limited, as-needed basis with trusted agents and contractors that assist in providing you with communications-related services.

What's strange is that I haven't gotten my statement in the mail yet. It is usually available online around the 4th of the month and I get the paper statement around the 7th.

This month I couldn't see my statement online until the 11th and it's missing a summary of charges (just shows a balance only). They must be taking extra long to print those disclaimers.

What scary is we will be paying for their spam.
I have received some text message from spammers (life insurance, car sales, etc) and Sprint charge me for it.
Took me quite some time to argue with Sprint to take the charges off.
I still get some telemarketer call from time to time (1 or 2 a month) and I never put my phone number on any list/form.
Guess where they got ahold of my cell number ?

Even if nothing bad comes out of their info sharing, at least we're sending feed back to the industry that we do not like this practice of sharing our information.

Maybe someday a smart company will start a marketing campaign where their selling point is privacy.

Or maybe I'm just dreaming again

Yeah, unfortunately SprintPCS is only one of the FIRST companies to do this. And unfortunately, it will quickly get worse. In fact, its worse that you mention.
Why?
Because FCC passed a ruling July 16th that said Telephone companies can sell/give/market/trade your information (including WHO YOU CALL and when/where and what services you subscribe too), without asking you first. I.e. its now OPT-OUT whereas before, FCC regualations was that this personal information was only opt-in and they had to ask your permission to sell/give this information. One of the HUGE problems with this ruling, "communications-related services" companies was not defined. Heck, radio shack sells phones, they are communications related. Your local cable company sells internet services, they are communications related. They can even sell to unrelated 3rd parties as long as they are this nebulous "communications-related."

This is NOT just for Sprint! Regardless of your telephone company, you should call up the customer service number and tell them you do NOT want your information shared. CPNI (Customer Proprietary Network Information) information is what they call it.

Is there anyone out there who actually wants information on who they call and when being sold to everyone/ANYONE under the sun?

BTW, I can post links to substantiate this (FCC.gov ones) if anyone wants. Also if you are interested in further information, theres a great read by the sole dissenting FCC commisioner (1 out of the 4 people who made this incredibly dumb decision) I can link to as well.

opted out too....but fwiw the recording specifies that it doesn't disclose for services that you don't currently subscribe too....so all this *may* be overreacting....but then it may not.
