I'm trying to flash my new Asus A7S-VM's BIOS. After successfully saving the current BIOS, then trying tp update it, I get this message: "WARNING! This file is not Asus's BIOS.
This model doesn't match with the one currently used."

Assuredly, it's Asus's BIOS, unless someone hacked their site? I previously flashed what's now an old Asus 440BX mainboard, only to get a bad Checksum error message. After finding the fine print on their site that said "ignore this Checksum error," I proceeded with the flash.

But this seems a lot more serious! Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply, HansXP. Yes, I have. It seems that I have what's called an "in-house" BIOS. This means that Asus couldn't be bothered to flash the board with an Asus Public Release BIOS before they shipped it. It appears that I'm stuck with this in-house BIOS forever. Perhaps I can return the mainboard to the retailer, and get a board with a real OFFICIAL BIOS instead. We'll see.

You could call them and see if they would ship you a Flash Bios Chip that you could swap with the one you have. I downloaded a bios upgrade once that would not work with my CPU and Soyo was kind enough to seed me a new one. It is worth a shot.

How in the world did you get a board with that kind of BIOS on it?

Thank you for your replies, all! HansXP, I bought one of the first available A7S-VM's. In the future, I'll wait until a mainboard has been on the shelves for a few months! It may be possible to use a Public Release BIOS update. However, I'm chary of doing so.
