If the OP did this while he was at the stores for an actual reason, its alright.
If he went there with the sole intention of outwitting some poor schmuck with a lame job, he seriously needs to explore other entertainment options.

I once got into a debate with a sales guy (but I was 'actually' buying a video card with my friend). We wanted to buy a Radeon 9800 Pro...and the salesguy kept insisting that we would be wasting our money and should get the (cheaper) Geforce 5750 Ultra (I think). Even at check-out, he asked us to reconsider. I was seriously bugged because he was pulling stuff out of his ass and none of it was true.
