It's for historical accuracy - the normal method by which millions of natives were laughtered were simply scorched earth military burning villages and killing all inhabitants.

Sorry if I came across as a asshole. I know that is not the case that all white people are like what I described above, it is just to make a point where responding to JOS, where he makes a blanket statement describing indians as rapists. If Indians stopped throwing their children off of balconies, shooting them in the face, burning them with acid and oil and other perverted sheit i would have nothing against them.

But the Indian honor system is fucked up and they brought it to the UK, so i dislike that.

Thank you and oh yeah, the Afghan food is awesome, i wouldn't recommend it before a mission though or when you have to sleep seven men in a tent and have a fire going, the risk for an explosion is quite high. Dunno if you can call it kebab though, no pita but it's good bread and the meat is mostly lamb so... maybe.

That's the nature of power. I've long said our world's top political priority is likely finding a way to protect distributed power, sowe don't see these centuries-long power consolidations lead to one power.

If we do, that's just the sort of abuse that'll start, with much worse. It'snot unique to the US, the US was plenty abusive and arrogant as the big dog too.Now it's the US.

It was partly childish, but again it was evil people who sit and scheme and cme up with nice names for the US pursuing as much global power it can grab, and screw everyone else - like the neocons.

I said on 9/11 that our most important priority was to not let the attack make America give up its values, to ignore the attacks other than catching the perpetrators - that's not what happened.

It should have been a closening of alliances with the world outpouring, and the Bush administration blew it and threw away decades of goodwill - but maybe there's some good to that too, as the US doesn't further become the only factor in the world and get further corrupted, and instead the EU does develop more independantly.

Maybe it's for the best. The US has been a huge force for good in the world in ways, but it hasn't avoided the corruption that comes with power, and I'm not sure the US needs much more right now.

What really need to all be doing is asking how to have the good things the US and UK can set examples on get spread more widely and not have corrupt dictatorships spread.

But the idea of human rights being a priority in foreign policy is viewed as 'impractical, naive, pointless' and hasn't been much seen since President Carter.

It's still the same, most villages don't adhere to laws of the nation nor does the nation care about them, if you are not in a major city the law is whatever the head of the village wants it to be and most of them use the archaic caste system.

When it comes to nation wide occurances, do you think that it's by random chance that EVERYONE who is not poor in India is of a higher caste? This isn't a system you can just rid yourself of, it's been going on for so long that it will take many hundreds of years to change anything, even when it comes to regional politics.

Well fair enough, yes I admit I did live in only the bigger cities.

However I think you're underestimating the progress that has been made in recent years, a lot of it has to do with an increasingly vigilant media. My parents who are still in India tell me that most of the politicians are changing their speeches from being wholly based on caste based politics to those that talk about progress, development and economic prosperity for the upcoming elections.

I don't deny at all what you posted above never happened, it did, but with the rapidly spreading economic prosperity and education across the nation it is a matter of time before archaic systems will become a burden to economic progress. Once caste system clashes with money you and me both know who will win. I also might add that for a nation that has been in existence for a mere 62 years it is doing quite well for itself with the bulk of the progress made since 1991 when the economy was opened and the wealth started flowing in.

I have seen plenty of rich people not belonging to the upper class complete with their Lexus, Mercs, Beemers and mini mansions to boot. As wealth and education made the caste system irrelevant in the 80s and 90s in the big cities (when I grew up) it will have the same effect nationwide.

Do I sound too optimistic to you? Maybe I do, but I derive satisfaction in knowing that my birth country is on the move on the right path. We are not like China, where political opponents and activists are jailed/killed, media is censored, even the internet is censored for the love of God. Are we perfect? HELL NO, but at least we are trying and you can't knock us for that.
