Was going for Gigabyte 7800xt Gaming when...

Greetings. Since it's the cheapest 7800xt in my region and my motherboard is of the same brand and therefore sharing the same RGB (and maybe fan curve) software, I was ready to buy a Gigabyte Windforce Gaming OC 7800xt.
Then I decided to read opinions, and people were saying that:

- Gigabyte is famous for bad GPUs. (hmmm I did have a 9600gt ages ago, and true, it wasn't too good)
- Gigabyte fans use sleeve bearings and therefore supposed to start getting noisy in a few months
- They use cheap materials
- Bad support

Does any of that make sense? Anyone with a recent Gigabyte experience - especially the 7800xt - to confirm any of those?
Despite it's price, I am starting to seriously consider a Pure or Hellhound for $30 Canadian dollars more

Thanks in advance!

I haven't owned a Gigabyte GPU in a long while. I have also read they are hit or miss. I do have the HellHound 7800XT and it is excellent. I can firmly endorse it. I like buying from AMD exclusive partners too.

Thanks, I have my Sapphire hd6850 for more than a decade now and am really impressed with its longevity, hence my thoughts about the Pure, but the Hellhound seems very popular these days. No coil whine, I suppose?
The Gigabyte is a good deal money wise, but I wonder if it's worth it....

Can't really go wrong with Powercolor or Sapphire these days IMO. Both make solid GPUs. I might also consider MSI or ASrock.

I second the Hellhound rec. It's quiet and stays relatively cool, even when on its OC setting (vs quiet bios). With Black Friday rolling around, you might see some prices come down. The Hellhound is actually $10 US lower than it was 2 weeks ago. Some XFXs units have also fallen - saw one at $480 US.

Had an MSI RX 6600 that had an out of the box issue that took time for me to diagnose in a new build - but when I figured out it was the GPU, the RMA process was pretty painless and they fixed it in one attempt, so I'd consider their cards again too. And my wife's computer uses an ASRock RX 6600 that had been issue free, if you wanted some anecdotes.

Have a Gigabyte AORUS RX 6800 that I bought used. Yes, it does get very loud at stock settings. Gets to bearable noise levels when undervolted.

back in 2016 I bought a Gigabyte Windforce 1060 3GB card new for $260+tax Canadian. That card is still working fine with no noise or fan issues.

It seems Gigabyte did some nasty things to its customers not long ago. As such, they have received a bit of a bad rep.

As for the GPU rep, this video may have contributed to it:
That 72 hours to GPU failure, not a good look.

On the upside, Gigabyte is a budget brand now!
on the downside, um, yea . . . it would appear they don't mind letting the sparkys out. Try not to keep anything flammable nearby.
