what would you do? not have a car to get to work or pay the tuition and then not be able to make the classes cause its 40 miles away from my house and my cars not drivable D:

How the hell did you get into college? :\

Obvious solution - buy a car that fits your budget. The one you bought does not; it left you with very little cash.

usually the buzz feels more or less prominent depending on the situation.

You may have felt OK but once you get behind the wheel and actually use your dexterity it is a different story.

Say your ABC's before deciding.

no, you weren't being a pussy. but the fact that your chief concern about driving drunk and getting in an accident is that you might chip the paint on your sweet ghetto ride, and not the potential for killing someone else....is rather concerning.

Exactly, you weren't being a pussy, but you do sound like either a dumbass or a douchebag.

There's nothing cool about driving drunk. You did the right thing....that other guy can GTH. And I have to agree with other people here, it concerns me that you are more worried about the effects of drunk driving on your car than to yourself....or more importantly other people!

Damn I never had a friend who called me a bitch for not driving home drunk lol...

You'd still get a little ribbing from my group of friends but only in good fun. No way we'd let each other drive when we're drunk

Oh and +1 to the poor car buying choice. It's great that you own it outright unless that leaves you with no money in the back and unable to go to school

Should have bought a cheaper car/gotten a car loan and gone to school. Education is typically more important than how nice your car is

I would say that you were being RESPONSIBLE, but not being a pussy.

Your friends room mate sounds like the dumbass brotard that roams all the bars.

I wouldn't drive after 5 beers but I know people who can drive seemingly fine after 12 beers.
Alcohol affects me quickly.

Depends over what amount of time that 5 beers was consumed. But if you were feeling buzzed, then definitely no.

My limit when I am driving is 1 drink/hour up to a maximum of 4 drinks.

Well, 5 beers over the course of how long? How long after you stopped drinking were you going to drive home? If you drank 5 beers in three hours, you were probably alright. If you drank 5 beers in three hours, but drank the last two right before you were going to hop in the car then probably not alright.

I did it before. I do not recommend it. I used to live in Natick, MA and I went out drinking in Boston (30 minute drive). Well, I did a responsible thing and took the T in, but it requires me park at the MBTA garage (which is only 1.5 miles from my apt). I came back at 1 AM pretty buzzed (7 beers?). Yup, I decided to take the drive back to my apt. I didn't crash, but I woke up the next morning thinking to myself how stupid of a decision it could have been. Never again. It was because of that day, I finally decided to move back to the city. Now, when I go drinking, I take just take the T and I make sure to put my car keys somewhere I can not get them when i get buzzed.

So you're more worried about damaging your car and not about killing some innocent people.

Idiot.

Wait, wut? The risk of getting a DUI on your record and paying the fines or getting into an accident is WAY larger than the reward of sleeping in your own bed. Good job on not driving.

well if it was 5 beers in a few hours I'd say you were probably fine depending on weight.

... says the guy who already has a DUI.

Well DUI loosely as it happened in my parking space as well as according to the breathalyzer I was at .168 after less than one beer per hour from when I started to when I was stopped.

I even had my tab from the place with me. My actions were fine, I did well on the roadside, the breath test though is the end all be all.

Learned a lot about the system from it though.

I definitely would have driven home. But calling anyone a pussy for choosing not to drive after drinking is fucking stupid.
