Desipte the "good deal" I got (paying much less than sticker), I think I got ripped off. I'll never buy new again.

Nope, I paid only $700 below the MSRP for my TSX in 2003 when it first came out. They wouldnt go any lower as demand was high at the time, so I gave in.

I think so. 1997 Lincoln Town Car Cartier with all the goodies except for the sunroof for 7k, this was last may. Low mileage, blue book was ~8.5-9k.

Got a '96 Nissan 240sx for $3600, he was asking $4000.

When I bought it I thought it was a great deal, I even thought $4000 would be a good deal, but now its been about 2-3 weeks later and Im starting to wonder. There are no major problems with the car, interior is real clean and exterior is in decent condition. But there are a lot of little problems, they are things I can fix myself and for under $200. I dont know, everything seems to be ok, but for some reason I have this fealing in the back of my mind that it was a bad idea.

Bought my 1996 Saab 900SE Turbo for $600.

Mind you it had a blown head gasket and sat for a year. So I did a rebuild with the engine still in the car (timing chain, pistons rings, head gaskets, rebuild the turbo, etc...).

All said and done it was $1900 or so total. That included 2 225/50/16 tires, muffler installed, and some other little parts.

yep, I paid $800 for a near new condition 84 Ford Fairlane.....I was willing to pay nearly $3000 for it but the owner had no idea what the car was worth so I offered him the first amount that came to mind....he accepted it no questions asked....damn he got owned big time

I bought a leased/rental 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer in the Spring of 2003 for $8300 cash out the door with 22k miles on it. The car goes about 17k out the door new. This car depreciated about 45% in 18 months. I now have about 72k miles on it and recently checked on Craigslist what the going price on it. I think the car depreciated about $1200 bucks only for the previous 3.5 years I had it.

So I feel that I got a GREAT deal and my wife loves the car.

I think I did OK. Mine was more expensive than some (but less than others) plus it's in fantastic shape. It's also kind of a limited production car, so pricing is a bit different than most. It's a 1994 BMW 840ci, 82k miles. Came with Dinan front and rear adjustable sway bars, nearly new rims + tires, new exhausts, and new brakes. Car is in MINT condition. I paid $18k.

I paid $300 for my 88 Accord, put a $50 transmission in it, and drove it 3000+mi (WV to TX and back) within 6mo of buying it. I'd say I got more then my money's worth out of it, even if it fell apart like the Bluesmobile as soon as I pulled into the driveway back in WV.

That and the early '70s 2002 are about the only BMWs I would ever consider owning.

I honestly think I could've done better, but it was my first car purchase, I was simply happy I could qualify for it, with the payments I wanted (with a stretched out term). They listed at $23,900. I got it for $22,750CDN. Then I got talked into the rust proofing and extended warranty. Hey, what can I say, I was young and dumb.

The only right thing I did was I bought a Honda, used. 2001 Prelude, 5 speed. It's been very reliable thus far. Considering the price though, I could've bought a new Mazda3 or Civic or Corolla at the time. But I don't need 4 door, nor an automatic. I just wanted to have some fun (fun cost money, in my case, over $1k in speeding tickets thus far - 2 pull overs and 4 redlight/speeding cameras).

Regrets? Not a bit. Without it I couldn't manage to do the things I do today, so in the long run it was still worth it. Now they go for closer to $15000CDN. After 3yrs, hasn't depreciated too terribly. Close to what my loan is.

Yes, I think so MSRP was $32,750 + TTL, after dealer incentives and haggling I walked out at $27,100 including TTL. I've done better, but I've also done much worse

MSRP for my car. It's a 20th Anniversary Edition GTI (2003).

Some local dealers were selling them for $1k plus over MSRP.

I traded my car in and paid MSRP.

I probably could have done better but I wanted the damn thing, availability was low at the time and this one was at the dealership, still covered in plastic.

My fathers' passing not long before had a lot to do with the decision. It wasn't a financially "smart" decision, but I got what I wanted and got a fair amount on my trade-in.

The deal I made for the car I traded in (2002 GTI) was $200 over invoice (well below MSRP). I was VERY happy with the price I paid for this car.

I drove 4 hours to another state to avoid "transport costs" and other BS. Local dealerships tried to screw me so I made the deal online and got the car I wanted with the trim level I wanted at about $1300 less than local dealerships.

So all in all, my only two "new" car purchases were a wash. I will not purchase a new car until this one is paid off (72 months @ 6.9% interest) and will likely pay this one off early.
